ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Arnie, you don't live here any more. Stay out of the pantry.

Dear Arnie

Congrats. And you won't even need to get a new tie!

Trivia - a previous notable Sendai player was Pierre Littbarski.
Arnie may have even played against him in 1997 while playing for Sanfrecce Hiroshima.

My biggest fear about this is that Arnie will take Clarkey with him. IMO, Clarkey is irreplaceable. Arnie controlled the tactics, but it was Clarke that controlled the players fitness and injury prevention program. Compared to other teams, I reckon we had the least number of injuries last year.... thanks largely to A. Clarke.

I doubt the Japs will be trying to bring in too many of our players or back room staff.

Interesting that Patrick as assistant is not a given; Mossy to make his own choice; and also a new Technical Director to be appointed.

Tony Walmsley to fill Assistant Coach/TD roles - no disruption to other staff - seamless transition. He's left Sheffield United and was at the game last weekend wtih Turnbull and Charlesworth.

Did he not make the grade in Sheffield? Why is he back so soon?

. is this a thought ... or has this been announced?

. i think it may be time to augment the 'back of house'. don't forget that it was only 6 months ago that we lost john mckay and lawrie mckinna (as football director) ... with arnie increasing his duties as a consequence

. when arnie came in (as a more experienced coach) he seems to have had a more established 'back room'. we must be careful not to over-burden mossy ... he has a tough enough task as it is

Didn't Milicivic (I have no idea what his name is) leave Heart after they chose Aloisi over him???

I would think he would be a very good chance of taking over at WSW when Poppa leaves!

Kareem
Ante Milicic - Also former Sydney United - & current 2IC to Poppa - Yeah he would be a strong chance there to.

Read an article snippet a couple of weeks ago, the gist seemed to be similar to Arnies reasoning when he rejected their approaches a couple of months back. He didn't like their approach to the academy, coaching and playing styles, so he quit.
He said that he was coming back here to a corporate role, not related to football, but that he might return to football one day, if the right opportunity showed up etc. etc... Not sure, but I'm thinking one could be in this...
Also, I noted, watching the game on TV this weekend, that Mossy and Zwanny were holed up in the box together, seemingly discussing tactics while watching the game. Is it normaly for the youth coach to be that involved with the first team? Don't recall ever seeing Walmsley like that, but tbh that could well just be because I wouldn't recognise him if I passed him on the street ;)
Or is it a sign that they were prepping for a 1-2 setup - let the rumours continue!

Zwanny has been up in the stands all home games this year. I've seen him up and down from there before the start and halftime.

Ok, I probably just haven't been paying attention then... Wouldn't be the first time, but don't let the facts get in the way of a good lot of rumour-mongering ;)

I'm excited to see how Arnie fares in the J-League. See what he can do with a big budget. I will be keeping an eye on the next season, starting in March I think.
Following Arnie's expolits at Vegalta Sendai might be worth it's own thread.
