Blues to report Glory to FIFA

Birmingham will ask the Football Association to report Perth Glory to FIFA after recent comments from the club expressing a strong interest in striker Kevin Phillips.

Glory coach Dave Mitchell confirmed on Wednesday the A-League outfit were interested in securing the services of the former England striker, who has only recently returned to action after being sidelined with a hamstring problem.

The statement read: "Birmingham City FC can confirm that they have received no approach from any club regarding Kevin Phillips, and that they would not welcome any."

"In light of recent comments made by the manager of Perth Glory in today's press in respect of our player, who he acknowledges is under contract, we will be asking the FA to put a representation to FIFA on the club's behalf in respect of Australian club Perth Glory and their recent press claims over Kevin Phillips."

"The club will be asking FIFA to look for a potential breach of FIFA Article 17.5 and possibly Article 18.3 in respect of Perth Glory's recent claims which clearly states that a club should not act in a manner designed to induce a breach of contract between a professional and a club to facilitate a transfer."

"And that a club should also inform the player's current club in writing before entering into negotiations with a player, and a club is only able to do so providing the player's contract with his current club is due to expire in six months."

Good pick up by the sound of it.

Given that Adonk is the Marquee, this guy might avoid the SFC injury curse but interested to know how they get him and the others under the cap?

Jaza?

FFA could:
1) Put the contract terms and conditions up to FIFA who could certainly, through UEFA, check out the transfer terms and conditions from the other end. If things don't match up, Sydney FC have a real problem.
2) Refuse to register the new player until the FFA are completely satisfied that all is above board. Mind you, there is the contentious CSA matters to attend to. Maybe this contracted player might end up as the new owner's driver (employed by a 3rd party business) or something like that?

They have let a few go who were on decent cash, and have a few youth league guys stepping up for peanuts. They should have room for him and a quality am, even if corica stays on.

I'm going to say Chris Coyne (to play with Jamie) and then who knows on the marquee. Maybe Josip Skoko wants to come home?

If Skoko isn't getting much game time OS or has an OS offer in the wings, why not come home?

Only hope he's not going to turn out like a Lazaridis in his final year or two with Perth, or Loloisi, should he come home.

Rumour doing the rounds on SFCU (started apparently on Gloryboys) is that Holman's coming back to Perth.

Seems pretty far removed from any possible reality given he's just been bought for EUR3m by AZ Alkmaar who are 11pts clear at the top of the Eredivisie. He's made 14 appearances totalling nearly 600 minutes, so he's not just in the reserves.
