There has been a lot of speculation regarding Jess Van Stratten. Here are some facts. Jesses contract with Juventus runs out at the end of this season. At present he is in negotiations with Juventus. He wants at least a  2 year contract and because he has been on the bench for a long time. He wants to be loaned out so he can get some game time. The reason he wants two years is that he will then qualify for a European passport. If this does not work out he will come back to Australia. Last week he also held talks with the Gold Coast. Jess is under the same management team as Danny and Clint Bolton.

He is also ordinary!

Australia has a production line of good keepers .... Lawrie will find one, and I also hope he gives Redmayne a chance. Danny was young and after seeing him at Bonnyrigg a risk in V1.

Why dont we sign Owens' younger brother? Heard from Skilbeck he is quick and skillful - can put him up front.
Once matty hits the back of the net. Flood gates. But he needs to practice the hard angles instead of just in front, as he misses wide as he is left or right of the goal not always smack in front.

How Sydney don't go over the salary cap simply amazes me!

How does it amaze you?
Most of our players sucked.

CCM spent only marginally less on players than we did this year.

To be fair, I think that Lowy FC were also carrying some big salaries from V3 (Donkey anyone). A fairer distribution of the cap will help them and I expect them to perform v well in V4

Brisbane Premier League players Tim Smits and David Dodd today announced as the Queensland Roar's first new
signings for the 2008/09 season.

Ahmad Elrich and Felipe Campos have not had their one-year contracts
renewed by the Wellington Phoenix, while short-term replacement Kristian Rees has
also been released. Felipe wanted to pursue other opportunities.

Greg has been a bit off this season, though he has not had an extended run, and missed some pre season, so it is probably like hutch last year. Hopefully he comes good this season.

I would like us to sign a striker with some pace. Who can shoot. Simon has pace, but seemingly cant shoot. I would prefer kwassie up front.

you have to remember that greg didnt know he was starting for the grand final. and they were his words to me on sunday night.

if you think about it, as a premier league reserve grade player, i spend all morning until the game, which is around lunch time (cant remember the exact time) and sometimes even the night before mentally preparing. so imagine how much time they spend... particularly for a grand final. their team preparations started on saturday morning or something... he was still thinking he was on the bench...

I thought Greg Owens played well with the Reds last season, and was pleased to see him sign with us. I thought he would be a good goal scoring mid-fielder. Lets hope that with an injury free off season he can fulfil his potential.

In the article about Tommy leaving:

"Toms departure further accelerates our recruitment plans for season four for every door that closes another opens and the vacancy created by Tom provides an opportunity for both our existing squad members and perhaps some new signings to grasp," said Gorman.

"As is the case every season, myself, Peter Turnbull and our coaching staff will be leaving absolutely no stone unturned in assembling the strongest possible squad for our fourth Hyundai A-League campaign and subsequent AFC Champions League tilt.

"Im genuinely excited by what player retentions and recruitments we have in the pipeline and Im certain that the line up we put out in 2008/09 will be stronger than the one that performed so exceptionally this season."

This is a good thing,
always good to get new blood in the team.

Well, hopefully he didn't have to leave the nightclub on Saturday night after being told he was playing on Sunday - like what allegedly happened to Jamie McMaster in v1 GF.

BTW, Greg and McMaster play a similar style of midfield game from what I've seen of both players. However, Greg possesses an almighty boot when he really gets to belt it, and can pass more deftly.
