ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

If West Sydney and another get a licence for 2011 it'll bring us to twelve.

Welly will be punted due to pressure from the afc.

Correct.

Then in 2011 if WS and say Canberra got in and Welly were punted.....leaves 12.... ;)

If welly get punted they get punted at seasons end when their license is up. We would have 10 next year.

I dont see them being kicked out, Bin Hamman, the one obstacle to them being in has had a major loss of power and credible threat to his leadership since he said they should go. Hence his sway over everything has been diminished. He needs to keep his friends in his corner, and will fall into line with Lowy on this one IMO

The Nux won't go anywhere until we've secured the OFC vote for the World Cup bid.  Once that's sorted they can f*ck right off.  It's the A-League, not the ANZ League.

Do we even know if they took over the knights agreement or did they sign a new 5 year contract. The quicker the AFC and the OFC amalgamate the better really.

Can't see them going anywhere, shoddy that next season will be 11 team imo

They need to get really smart with the scheduling so that there are no breaks of 2 weeks for teams. They will need to get into mid week games and keep the season the same length so that the bye's aren't felt by supporters. Nothing worse than not having a team to support for 2 weeks.

+ a gazillion. absolutely no place for an overseas team in our league. dump them as soon as expedient

it's not like welly is keeping out a team that would otherwise be in there, and it's not like they need propping up (...at least no more than our near northern neighbours, or adelaide, brisbane, west sydney...).

i'm in favour of as big and long a competition as we can manage, so i really don't see the issue with welly remaining in the comp. my guess is that afc will take ofc into the fold before welly get booted, and then it becomes no different to monaco competing in the french league, vaduz in the swiss, cardiff and swansea in the english, toronto in the US... you get where i'm coming from.

They got the knights license, it comes up at the end of the season as do all other licenses.

The nix issue will be decided before the voting for world cup. I doubt FIFA will alow the AFC to remove the only professional team in oceania. It makes a big step back for the region.

Id expect the nix back in, as well as a youth league team for them, but no entry to ACL. But hopefully for them the can work out to get into the OCL.

For the record the nix ARE and australian club, based in wellington, not a NZ club as far as FFA and FIFA are concerned

incidentally, bertos has apparently signed a 3-year extension. that would suggest welly are planning on sticking around for a little while.

there would be a clause in every single a-league contract saying that the contract would be null and void if the club does not compete in the a-league
