ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Thought you'd be chuffed at a centralised system.

:)

as long as regional centres get a good go, central planning and a bit of socialism are lovely. sounds a bit like...

Sounds like a plan - demolish the States, create mega councils dependent on Feds for funding (keeps the bastards on their toes).

Nationalise all rail, power, toll roads

Declare Newcastle (en masse) enemies of the people (the whole Cultural Revolution treatment)

Welfare recipients have to actually work in the community for the dole.

Yep, I'm in.

I hereby proclaim the People's Republic, to have its capital in Gosford (regional development program, natch).

Della could launch a coup.

Declare the area North of the Hawkesbury as far as Doyalson a new State.

PDR of C Coast

We could then look forward to shit roads, poor schools and hospitals, no infrastructure investment and a corrupt elite

Oh...........

Post reported for being grossly unrelated to the bizarre tangent the discussion took.

A second Melbourne team is expected to be announced soon

Melbourne Victory will have a home-town rival next year with a licence for a new A-League team expected to be granted within days.

The consortium headed by businessman Peter Sidwell has put Mark Viduka at the head of its wish list.

Sources said an announcement would be made within days and the new team would make its debut in the 2010-2011 season, most likely with an August local derby.

It's believed the club is looking overseas to recruit senior staff.

"We don't want to cannibalise an existing club in Melbourne Victory, which has done a super job," Sidwell said. "We are under no illusion about the enormity of the job ahead of us.

"The name of the team will be up for grabs and we need to lure a whole new band of soccer lovers."

The public is expected to help name the club, which has a working title of Melbourne Heart.

The club would join Victory as a tenant of the rectangular stadium being built on Swan St.

I don't know about this ... Mariners works even though we are only 80km away because we have a unique and clear identity. What will differentiate the new team from Victory ... ie. why would anyone support it?

Good question.
You would think that the majority of people who would support an A-League team at this time would already support Victory.

It is a big city with alot of bandwagoners. I am sure the same bandwagoners will jump onto hearts when they are winning as do victory. Hell I am sure that is the reason so many ALF games are played at dome/mcg.

All they need is to get a small starting base of like 10k just like every other team and they will grow. And the bonus media attention will be good for victory too. I presume most weekends there will be 1 match in melbourne, rather than 2 or 0.

Also they intend to put most of their work into the SE i believe and be based there.

I thought they would play the other team out of one of the suburban grounds - so you'd end up with a rivalry that would form say between Sydney and Parramatta.

It also expand the footprint of people willing to go to the game.  If they are not prepared to go to the city, they wont go and support this new side.

kogarah's not in the gong! it's in the st george area, between canterbury, cook's river and botany bay. a team out of there would be my local team pretty much (not far from stanmore, and i was born in st george hospital, which you can see from the hill at kogarah).

i'd still support the mariners, but i wouldn't be able to resist going to games there.

nevertheless, not gonna happen.
