I can't see a Tassie team any time soon. I don't know that much about them, but I thought they were an aerial ping pong state and if they AFL aren't willing to include them, how can we? Can they really draw 15,000 to a game?

I know some may say their dying for their first national sporting team just like we were, but let's get western Sydney and Woollongong before Tasmania. Those two areas are true Football heartlands are the potential is enormous, especially in Sydney's west.

Agreed but 4 is representative of their State colours in cricket, and the less offensive of the bunch.

The Mariners have proven that utilising a good community based business model can attract some success, but they'll need a rich partner to get them up and running, and some decent sponsors - with expressions of interest already signed.

Their proposed stadium needs to pass muster too. They have no AFL or NRL teams down there, the grounds may well be second rate. The FFA likes to see some nifty corporate boxes and decent stadia infrastructure, not marquees out the back and temp. stands, I think.

Good that there is quite an interest in getting an A-League franchise, but I wonder if they showed interest in the first season, or just trying to bandwagon onto the gravy train after the pioneering 8 teams fought all the hard yards?

I wouldn't like to see more than 12 teams. Any more and it starts getting hard to play home and away to each team over the course of the season, particularly so when there's a World Cup qualification year.

Doubt there would be any 2nd tier comp for many a long year. And given the teams buy into the A-League by way of franchise, I also doubt there will be promotion and relegation.

South Coast are pushing to!
Only see them coming into a-league as a 2nd tier team or if the league is expanded to 14.
This is because i believe G Coast, North Qld, Canberra and Tassie need to be in 12 team comp.
