ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Well done Shaun or who ever was responsible for the strong and swift removal of TW. We now have a chance to rescue the season provided the next coach is the right choice. They will have time to put some framework together in the following weeks instead of trying to tread water a few weeks into the season.

Hey @Shaun Mielekamp, good question from @Tevor in the kit thread:

I have a question, does anybody know why CCM don't have the little silver star above their emblem signifying that they have won the comp? I have mentioned this in surveys etc. as well. Seems every other club who has won has the star except CCM, noting that the Jets do as well. Thought we should be very proud of that achievement and when I purchase a new kit I would dearly like one with a star on it as well.

Any feedback?

It provides some hope I guess as we were 100% destined for stone motherless last with MC's handmaiden in charge.

Mulvey would be a decent signing but please please not Hutch....

If I were taking on that role I'd insist on the full cap being spent as an absolute pre-condition. I know there are only 10 gigs available but there's no future someone taking on a role they know is doomed. Time will tell but clearly they didn't have someone lined up and read to go. If in another fortnight we still don't have a manage then it may well be the job nobody in their right mind will take and it all gets back to spending the cap

Is it possible to offer some explanation on why the interview process for a new coach is taking so long.

Information provided by the club to date was TW was on a performance review, so it would not have been unexpected that he was removed. Given this was the most likely I assume a plan "B" was in place if TW did not show enough improvement.

6 Applicants and between 3 & 4 weeks to interview them and then they have to get here after the appointment. Most would have a considerable time lag.

There is every possibly the coach could arrive after the season starts or days prior only.

For the love of the holy mother Mary .... the time lag in the interview process seems hhhhmmmm rrrrrr struggle for the right words but so 1970's ...

It's been less than 3 weeks since TW was sacked and if Ray Gatt's mail today is anything to go by we'll have a new coach this time next week. That's about 4 weeks.

As for time lag after appointment - what does that even mean?

I still think there's some imagination going into the suggestion that could occur "after the season starts".

The direct implication in the post I'm referring to is the start of the season i.e. Round 1.

I'd be stunned if Okon/Mori/Dickov/whoever else Gatty throws in the mixer doesn't start within the next fortnight.

I assume I don't really need to reply to this one but in short there is a lot to have gone through in detail to make sure we have the right candidate. Did you want us to rush it and get it wrong?

I see that Fab is the Kariong player rep .... lol sus and strings pulled ;);)
There was 150 people in the room and they all saw Mark Owen draw for the fish bowl so there is no chance I could have rigged it in anyway. Plus everyone knows that if I rigged it I would have made sure Trent gets the club closest to his sponsor at IFS.

Hey guys, sorry for the delay in reply here - just had a couple things on. The reason we have not put the star up to be honest is because of where we finished last season. We really just felt that after the season we had the timing was wrong to all of a sudden bring in the star to celebrate the championship all of a sudden after we just claimed our first wooden spoon. There is some history with us and stars on the crest and we will get the star on the jersey likely to be next season when it will fit better for us. Hopefully we get to put a 2 in the middle of it.
