ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Sounds like Paolo wants to bring in his own people. It's either a statement of intent, or he's lost the dressingroom within 4 hours of being appointed. Interesting decision... and perhaps one which speaks volumes about his lack of knowledge of the Central Coast Mariners.

If true...it could also be that Hutch wasn't the best option. Great players don't always make great coaches. It won't be a popular decision but if it's for the best for the club, then make the decision, have the fall out from it and move on.

A shock if true. However a move away sooner or later, would be a definite necessity if he wants to advance his coaching career. Head coach in an lower league or an assistant position overseas. You cannot stay in the same place forever and develop.

[It's a rumour being posted on Twitter rather than an announcement from the club, so grain of salt etc., but it may be that the club has yet to work out how to announce.]

My reaction is "Hmph."

He was never going to work for the club forever. There was always going to be a day when he finished up. Granted, I had hoped that it would be following a good apprenticeship as assistant and then following his fifth straight Cup/Premiership/Championship treble he was picked up by the Socceroos to lead us to WC2026, but he was going to go at some point...

As ever, I hope they know what they're doing. What's more, I desperately hope that Hutch is treated with the respect and honour that he has shown the club over many years. And my heart will break if he winds up following Lawrie to the scum.

Surely Okon would've made this apparent to Shaun/Storrie during negotiations for the Coaches position, as in what/who he wants to get the job done.

Shit to do:
• Announce Okon 'coming in' first
Announce Hutch 'going out' days later.

If true would like to hear a LOT more on this also. Hopefuly unture - very dissapointed if it is and will surely impact on the sqad - hutch was reknowned for doing a lot more for players than where an assistant coaching role began and ended and also the word i heard directly from players was that there had been a drastic shift in attitude and intensity in camp last few weeks and the mood was good. Would expect this to change and impact significantly if his sacking is true.

I can understand a new coach bringing in his own staff but you cant shit on a club legend and expect to engage with the community.
Not sure how this will affect the dressing room.
If true then the expectation would be that he was looked after (eg. isn't there a vacancy in the FFA national youth set up?)

Even at that, to be quite honest, I think it's a ridiculous assumption that somehow seems to have been allowed to survive, that a new coach should always bring in his own assistants etc... I mean, ffs, hopefully we wouldn't hire a guy who can only work with one specific group of people!?

That's professional football, its the head coach/manager who is held to account, he lives or dies on the team performance and will demand total control as a result. Either the club insists that existing staff remain and limit their choice of applicants or they concede to the preferred applicant. Doesn't mean I like it if Hutch has been shafted and there could be additional implications for Okon to now deal with.

However short the patience of the fans was going to be, you can probably assume it's roughly halved now.

Just had a very in the know person from the within the coaching fraternity confirm he is gone. Not surprised really.

The Central Coast Mariners wish to advise its Members, fans and the media that the club has parted ways with Assistant Coach, John Hutchinson effective immediately.
Hutchinson who has been with the Mariners as both a player and coach since the club’s inception has reached a mutual agreement with the club that will see him pursue other opportunities.

John Hutchinson thanked the Central Coast Mariners for an incredible 12-year-journey that saw the Morwell Pegasus junior make 228 Hyundai A-League appearances headlined by captaining the Yellow & Navy to its maiden Championship in 2013.

“I have been really happy and grateful to be a part of the Central Coast Mariners for the past 12 years, it’s something I’ll treasure for a long time and I’m just looking forward to the next chapter and where it takes me,” Hutchinson said.

“The club needs to move forward and all I want is what’s best for the club and hopefully as a club we can move up the ladder and have a more successful season.

“If we stay on the Coast I will come to all of the Mariners games, my son is a massive Mariners fan and football is a massive part of my life so of course I will come and watch the Mariners play.

“But whether I stay on the Coast or not will be based on the next chapter of the life of a football coach that hopefully continues and I look forward to the next step in that journey.

“I will be able to take a bit of a break, spend the weekend with my family which is something that I haven’t done in a long time, we will reassess and go from there.

“I’ve been grateful for the opportunities that this club has given me as a player for 10 years then as a coach for a season and a bit.

“The Members & fans have been incredible, to see their smiling faces after games and after we won the Grand Final has been the pinnacle of my career.

“I just want people to remember the good times, not the bad times. I’ve always loved the fans – even the ones that have given me stick and I look forward to seeing the club move up the ladder,” Hutchinson said.

I guess the door is not closed for Hutch to return one day if he does make his mark coaching. Will be interesting to see who the new assistant will be, if all these rumours are true. Can't really blame the club, as Luca Brasi has pointed out the coaches are ultimately held responsible for results and will be judged accordingly. Most incoming coaches would probably have done the same.
Would be a good time now to introduce a popular assistant and a gun new number 10 to keep the troops happy. :)

I'm not sure we should be pinning this one to Okon. This decision was probably made 3 weeks along with the TW departure

I tend to agree, either it was part of Okon's requirements before signing the line or it had already been decided.

Either way, leads to speculation on the new AC, would love Mori or Vidmar now ;)
