He's done well in Adelaide I hear...if he's up to ALeague I don't know but would be happy to give him a go.

I would also be happy to give Mori a go. Has a very good reputation as a coach.

I would prefer either Mori or Herbert to Vidmar, they both have more experience and results. I do not know who the other three candidates may be.

Mori doesn't strike me as a yes man.

Everyone needs to be smart and diplomatic in the early stages of their career.

Great player but i also have no idea if he would be good. I also wonder if he would know how to fix our defensive failings.

I was reasonably strong on Mori getting the job before Moss and wanted him before TW. But that was before we had two failed coaches can we take a chance on a third untried A-League level coach.

We have reasonably quality in the frame I guess it will come down to what the interview panel consider of each applicant.

TBH they all sound in their own way quite good.

MC did what he should have done at the start and appoint someone to oversee the process and in Harry [won't confuse again and say Redders] there does seem to be in place a football process in place... just maybe the appointment of Storrie and Harry will turn out to be good in-spite of what we believed at the time.

With Mori I would be worried about his support cast. A first timer needs a strong experienced team.
Harry on the clock in the UK isn't it and not sure Hutch is either.

Mori should get a more experienced support staff.

Herbert could work with them.

Just says in the mix but doesn't sound a bad choice.

Has at least done some sort apprenticeship but how strong is the SA premier league? Don't the two Adelaide sides rule the roost?

Highly doubt they'd consider redoing the support staff now.
It would be a very poor decision imo. The ones we have would be in contracts.
We don't need more costs.
We don't need more upheaval.
We don't need more ill will.
They know the players and have strong relationships. Thats important. We know they're aligned with clubs vision etc and are very dedicated and loyal. Mori and hutch would already have a decent relationship. And who do you think they could magic in?

I really like the idea of Mori, not just an amazing footballer, but a very smart one. Also Im a gambling man... but i think Middy makes the best point re the timing, if there was a time to be risk adverse, this is it.

That said, if they appoint Mori. I'll still be pretty happy.

This was from an interview by Simon Hill in 2013 with Mori

You're now the coach of your old club, Adelaide City, where you've won several titles - is it your ambition to coach in the A-League?
Definitely. I've done my A licence, and I'm putting in the hard yards at Super League level. This will be my tenth season coming up with City, and we've made the last eight grand finals in a row, winning five of those. I like my teams to attack - but at the same time, a big part of winning is how you defend. I like to be well-organised with a team that can score goals. My teams press high, and try to keep the opposition in their own half.

Tend to agree with this. SA Super League success in what has been described as a 'pissant town' doesn't fill me with confidence. Not sure how he will go outside of his comfort zone at Adelaide City. Great playing record, I remember seeing him score v scum in 06/07? at Newcastle, same game as Mile replaced Noel Spencer from memory.

Without knowing the full field I think I would probably have some money on Anthony Hudson.

This is my prediction.

Anyone else prepared to go out on a limb and make an early call?

I tend to agree, Anthony Hudson certainly fits the bill.

I tend to think that Mori would actually do a better job, but this guy gets points for being British and affiliated with West Ham...

Each of the five coaches mentioned are decent .... me thinks it will come down to the interview and how each can sell themselves and what they can bring to the club.

Do you think their experience and past performance would have a bearing? Maybe how they've dealt with a difficult customer in the past?

If those are the choices - it's a toss up between Mori and Herbert for me.

Mori is more of a risk, but i think his appointment could go a long way to healing our media relations and there's a bit more excitement about him.

I love the fact he gets team to press high - personally and ironically, i think this goes a lot further towards providing an entertaining game as opposed to it being about all out attack. Which is impractical/unrealistic.

But agressive pressure that forces turnovers Makes for exciting football imo.

*edit - actually and you know what else. Expectations will be lower by the press and fans so that mitigates his risk a bit actually.

Think i'm mori first choice. Herbert 2nd

Coached by zoran matic .no one understood
Defence better .
If mori brings some of that with him
He'll do very well

I think it works in with our 'picking up unproven* talents and giving them an opportunity to shine on the big stage' mentality too.
