shhhhhh plz

I am one of a select few who saw his supreme 45 minute performance at Christie park against Spirit.
I was simply mesmerised and am extremely heartbroken to see him leave.
Best wishes Nick.

Yes, I too thought of this. A disadvantage of bay 23 is that 21-22 will be no good to anyone who wants to sit....:

Has anyone thought about the people sitting down in Bay 22. Wouldnt they be upset and tell us to sit down like the episode at newy in season 3 semi-final. I reckon Bay 1/2 would be better but the decision has already been made by the club for Bay 23.

... Which pretty much means those bays are prime spots for GA supporters (assuming 23 is reserved), but whether that's a good thing or cause for weekly stand-up-sit-down confrontations would remain to be seen.

Those confrontations will happen every week.

Why is the away bay so destined for the away fans? Why not move them to bay 16?

bay 23 is a serious kick in the balls from the club IMO

IMO bay 23 is the best bay for the future of both the Marinators and the Mariners. The reasons for that have already been outlined so I'm not going over them again. The point being that I wouldn't be so quick to assume the club is kicking us in the balls. They're not forcing anyone to move from bay 16 and they're offering concessions in the new position which is a good thing for many younger marinators.

Very important point.

For very good reasons they do not want the home end to be near where the majority of platinum members, gold members and corporates are i.e. near Bay 1/2.

This is not having the Marinators by the balls - it is just common sense for all parties involved and those in leadership positions have seen this and acted accordingly.

If you yobbos move to 23, behave.

There are some v important members planning to go to the bay above you and they dont want to hear all that rude chanting you do.

If 1/2 is out of the options? Then why not away bays? This i do not understand.

Non alcohol could easily stay on western side down the other end. So i dont see that as an issue re 1+2.

It is gay isnt it. We would be in the shade, next to palm trees, sound would go through the stadium before it disappears and be directly across from the away fans. I think its perfect but the club sees something different.

As well as not standing in front of sitting members.
As well as being segregated from away supporters
as well as being able tohear their chants and respond etc etc

I would agree with current away supporters bay but there is one hitch.

I imagine the club will want to keep the away supporters in a bay that can be seen on TV and will be easy for them to manage security. The security issue pretty much eliminates anywhere between bay 12 to bay 22. Bay 32 is currently perfect for away supporters with its own exit, the ease in which security can hold them back in that bay if need be - and TV coverage. Only bay 1/2 would offer the same sort of convenience and that bay is near non-drinkers and families and its not on the TV side of the stadium.

Regardless of what some may think on here, TV is very important for both the club, for Foxtel and (by association) the Marinators. A better atmosphere on the TV translates to more Foxtel viewers and spectators.

Anyway, if someone could suggest a another bay where it would be easy to herd the away supporters after a match and to provide them with alternative exits and to keep them in the TV coverage, then I reckon bay 32 is perfect for the Marinators. Alas, I don't think that is possible so it comes  back to bay 23 for the Marinators; no security problem having the back of their bay right near the main exit provided they have control over away fans.

Guys, eveyones points are valid as they are your own opinions.
The initial discusions took place because some wanted to move and the Mariners wanted to know what our plans were so they then could make alternative arrangements to suit.
At the end of the day all thats getting done is the reserved supporters bay is being moved.
If you want to sit in bay 1 or 16 sit there.
The amount of discussion that has taken place regarding moving form 16 has been going on for a few years and as our numbers have struggled, moving might be the lift it needs for people to either come back or come for the first time.
If those who decide to sit in 23 make an active go of it I am sure it will succeed.

i dont get along to too many games cose i live in sydney (i hate the place) but when i get the chance i try to get in amongst the marinators whenever possible ive sat in those corner bays i reckon bay 16 is the place to be especially when the opposition keeper is like 10 metres away and you can get stuck in to him

catch a train from sydney

I live in Sydney too (in lovely Stanmore, where I'm very happy), and decided against getting a membership in the first season because I wasn't sure how many games I would get to. After I went to 7 regular season matches, plus the CWC, preseason cup and finals matches that year I have been a member for the last three years. It's not that hard.
