wow. four of the best plus a quality strike from Sekulovski, does wonders for our goal diff too.

Perth are now -11 and 7 straight losses. even if they find form they're gonna struggle. Fergie's gotta go.

f**king get in.

One of the best performances I've seen. Full credit to Arnie and the boys for moving on from the Brisbane performance. Great games from everyone, particularly WeeMac, Oli and Musti.

Timmah, you gotta give Fergie a break. He's only just taken the reins over from Mitchell a few weeks ago n will take a little while for things to settle.

And the Mariners.... WOW, I cant wait for the next home game, pity its still 6 odd weeks away.

WOW indeed.

That was truely awesome. If that is how Mustafa plays in only his second A-League game, the future of Aussie football is very rosy indeed.

A great performance. Persistance paid. Would have liked the lead to be greater at half time but the boys made up for it in second half. Again great job and keep it up especially as we have some games in hand against those on table ahead of us. Feel sorry for Perth in some respects as they stared the season well. Hopefully for the A-League they can bounce back,(but naturally not overtake the Mariners for the Premiership).

Brilliant. Just brilliant.

SO GOOOOD to walk away from that bloody stadium without another torturous memory.

Great efffort by everyone. Starring... Weemac. Ollie and Musti. (Socceroos are going to have a true number 10 in the years to come)
I also thought Griiifiths was fanatstic. Sorry Hutch, but after tonight I'm no longer unsure who should be starting at DM.
Matty - I've been on his back of late - but his touch tonight was excellent and he and McBreen were starting to link well at last. Pedj will be missed - he has been immense all season.
A Wilko assist? How good was that lol!

I cant praise enough our first touch - one touch passes and general speed of passing tonight. It was better than Roars in the game previous - which was high enough quality to see them quite dominant once more despite the draw.

Kudos Mariners and Arnie. Wonderful work!
Keep it up!!

Anyone got news on Pedj ... seems like a bit of injury ...

Yeah a real shame that, he was overlapping quite nicely. Looked like a pulled hammy so hopefully it's only a week or two. The depth will be tested other the next few weeks.

Haven't posted on this website in a while, and now that apparently everyone knows who i am i say hi to you all! :)
All i want to say about this game is congrats to the fella who looks like Arg Barker, for making an effort to include the wider spectrum of Mariners supporter, first thing anyone one from the 33 member "Yellow Army" has done to make others feel more included into chanting for our team, i think you have repaired a little of the damage that the "Leadership" of last years "Coastie Boys" did to the prospect of people chanting in bay 16, so congrats you did a good job...
on a side note to the "Yellow Army" (if thats what you call yourself) people may feel a little more inclined to participate in your chanting if you got rid of the emos who sit around you and text all game, and also if when somebody else starts chanting, don't all of you look up and stare at them thinking, "Why are they chanting were not allowed too start chants unless we are one the 3 leaders" doing this ostracizes other people who may want to participate.

so thats all i have to say, and it is only my opinion, and i probably wont be back on this website for 6 more months so if you want to abuse me online (as this is what seems to happen on this website) there is no need ill be at every mariners game you can just say hi there :)

That would have to be the best Mariners performance I have seen. Absolutely brilliant. How on earth do you pick best 3 out of that?
We were discussing how Musti was a bit green & would get monstered by the defence if he started. How wrong were we? What beautiful touch he showed, and that shot he took that Velaphi only just got to. This kid is going to be something else! I also loved the way he let the purple guys know he was there, a couple of good shoves - "don't mess with me fella." Gave away a couple of frees, but made a statement that he wasn't going to be pushed around. Loved it.
Someone commented about us struggling without Perez -- WRONG! Imagine what we'll be able to do if we can find a way to have both of them on the paddock together.
As Big Ted used to say: I'M EXCITED!

FP - Why drop Hutch and then play Bozanic out of position in the DM slot only to replace Bozanic with either the hitherto disappointing Lewis or the far-too-green Amini?

EDIT - Amini gets a start. Hmmm...

In hindsight our 442 worked wonders obviously. So its all mostly redundant...

Your talking the 4231 I proposed not the 4141 yes.

My thinking was...

Hutch out already with 5 yellows. So not dropped.
Green Amini had impressed me all through our trial games and during the Asian cup - with strikers seeming out of form, I opted to see him on the park aswell.

Which meant if using a 4231 someone needed to drop back beside Griffiths.
Hutch as said was out, obviously not Perez or Amini, so that left Bozanic or Weemac.
Weemac had played DM for NZ - but as we had Lewis - a left sided player on the bench (Who I personally rated from last year dibo???) (Proved me right tonight again :)) ...and as I'd watched Ollie slot into DM for periods during some of our trial games - where I thought he did very well - (I noticed he was actually dropped in there again tonight when Griffiths went off and did well)
Bozanic seemed the logical choice.

But hey, 5 zip?

442 FTW!!!

However once Perez is back... Hard not to want to see him and Amini on the park together... as Spike just mentioned...
But we'd have to get the balance right though which is what I was playing around with.

Arnie implied we wouldn't see that and that Perez would clearly come in for Musti again.

But all in all...
It's all good.

I'd like to think that no one will abuse you for having an opinion, but you're posting in the wrong thread. This is the thread to talk about the Perth game.

Ollie is very good defensively, does a lot of shutting down and his turning in tight areas is sublime. The kid seems to be able to play anywhere. I see him in the David Carney mould - but also able to defend and use his right foot for something other than standing on. ;)

Pulled hammy... only a week or two?

4-6 usually and from how he pulled up in front right in front of me I'd be very surprised if it isn't six or even worse.
He didn't want to move after he'd pulled it. He knew it was a bad tear. Hopefully it's not detached... or there goes his very impressive season.

No idea of the issues no idea of those involved ... only found out during the week there were three different Mariners forums....

But it seems awfully silly to have three sites .... maybe if not a big hug ... maybe just start talking again... we are in for a hell of a year ... love to enjoy it together...

One of Lennon's best ... Come together ...
