Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

Strong words in both your posts, but I agree.

When you said this..."Put it this way, if the FFA was looking at a Hunter regional team instead of a western Sydney team, would you like it if we had to all travel to Singleton, Maitland or Cessnock for a HOME game vs. Newcastle, just to 'promote the game' to the people in the Hunter?" you had me, because thats exactly what the FFA is doing, and its wrong

As strange as it may seem, having been born and raised in Western Sydney, often been referred to as a 'westie' (precursor to a bogan I guess), and still travelling to Sydney for work, I find it quite insulting they should even contemplate a move of any home game for the Mariners to Sydney.

Having moved here 5+ years ago, I find the Coast a hell of a nice place to live, and I've gone through hell and back to stay here, be involved somehow in something 'Coastie' and now they want to treat that 'something' as a promotional plaything!

I have just worked 11 days straight, commuting each day to Sydney for work. This weekend off, I have not gone to Sydney for a couple of things, because I couldn't stomach the notion of yet ANOTHER commute on the F3 or 2+ so hours on the train.

That is, I guess, how many people who live up here and do the commute feel on their days off. Push them to decide whether to give up yet another whole day travelling to and from Sydney to go to a Mariners match, is a bit rich I reckon.

I barely have time to get essential things done for myself, and can completely emphasise if folks decided that travelling to Sydney just to watch a football match was too much to ask of them on their days off. Would be a terror of a trip with little ones, or if you weren't feeling too good.

And it isn't as if the folks in Western Sydney couldn't get themselves to a Sydney FC match at the SFS if they were curious about this A-League?

Absurd to move one of our home games. We take a few thousand to sydney away games. We will be absolutely outnumbered by sydney fans.

The bling could move their game there, would be fine.

But this is absurd. Also, knowing the ffa it will be a friday night game to make sure vertually no one travels.

It's about money no doubt. If Lyall et al are seriously contemplating this move then it would only be for the sole reason that they have been guaranteed "x" amount of dollars which would be far in excess of what they could earn at BT. There's obviously no cash in it for Singo, and if it's a success then more derby clashes are in danger of being shifted to ANZ. That's a loss of a share in gate receipts from 16-20K fans that would've been at BT. No wonder Singo's not a happy camper. I'm just guessing at this - I could be wrong.

I'm undecided as to whether I'd travel down to ANZ. I don't support the move and would like to boycott as a protest but there is a certain amount of responsibility associated with supporting the Mariners and I can't take the team for granted.

That article f**ked my otherwise wonderful CC sunday.

I want a f**king answer to this absolutely dumb, damaging and insulting f**ked up idea before I purchase my season tickets for V4.

f**K PAYING OUT MONEY TO TRAVEL TO SYDNEY

Do the f**kwits responsible consider this brainstorm of an idea to be a one off, or has our management lost their f**king minds thinking with their back pocket and consider that if remotely sucessful they will hold more games in a season in Sydney.

Not one Mariners fan should even entertain the idea of attending such an insult.

WE ARE NOT THE CENTRAL COAST - NORTHERN SYDNEY MARINERS AND I FOR 1 WOULD CONSIDER BECOMING A F***ING SCUM FAN IN PROTEST.

To our management,

Money is'nt everything, don't consider being such greedy stupid c**ts. I won't be the only one reconsidering spending good money with this club if you sell us out.

Its obvious that it should be the bling moving their home game, not us.

Would season ticket holders get into ANZ for free? If not, then I will be expecting a discounted season ticket.

I also commute to Sydney for work and the last thing I want to do is commute their again on the weekend to watch what should be a home game.

This is complete rubbish.

Agreed  - until I see a denial from the club about us losing a home game, I will defer membership renewal

ANZ Stadium management floating it to see who sinks it and how quickly!

No logic in it unless Broke FC were getting 60-70,000 and WE could cash in!

It doesn't even make any sense for Mariners fans who live in Sydney ... what do we get out of it losing a home game!?

I think the message it out now that we don't like it and I'd be surprised if our board were even seriously considering it, mates or no mates.

ANZ would be like a morgue with only 15K souls in there. Don't think you'd get many more tbh.(For those you'd pick up supporting Sydney who live in Sydney, you'd lose in those who live in Gosford and won't travel to ANZ)

And it would seem like an away game for Mariners fans and players too.

Why dont Sydney do something about their shit support and play a home game there?

^^^ Exactly. If Sydney FC want to play a game or two there as home games I got no qualms if it happens to be against us as the away team. But why should we play home games there? They think after the GF we are a second Sydney team or something keke

it really depends if this is a-league or pre season because if its pre season i agree it is an ok idea to spread the name of football because we played 2 games at neutral grounds at canberra and orange. but if it is regular season than it is a silly idea.

I call BS - we know that the Telegraph has no objection to blatantly lying.

Bloody hope so......or Davutovic being told some BS by someone within the Mariners or ANZ stadium management, somehow believing it to be true, and running the story.

We are scheduled to play two home games against Sydney this year so there may be some merit to th story. Play one home game at Bluetongue and the other at ANZ.

If someone with a bit of know how could set up a fans protest (I think we have had practice lately) to the mariners board with everone saying "if a Mariners home game is set up at ANZ then I will not be renewing my membership for version 4" with each person stating there name and membership number.

Whether you are serious or not about not renewing your membership I'm sure the board would take notice. Better to nip this in the bud before its confirmed.

Maybe Buckley will drop ALL charges against Danny and pay the Mariners legal fees which will then allow Danny to go to the Olympics, in return for the game at ANZ.

If Singo is not happy about the arrangement then he can throw the gates of BT open and for a gold coin donation (to be donated to a charity of his choice) play the game on the big screen and he will have a sell out crowd and the ANZ and FFA will have a blue night with no Mariners supporters in sight.

I agree with those who wonder why is it that we have to accommodate Bling in the promotion when it should be up to them to do their own promotion. If the belief is that they (Bling) have to tame the west let them play their home game at the Panthers Stadium

We shouldnt be dropping a home game for another venue. Period!! I dont care if its in Bumf**k idaho, or on the freakin moon.

It seems strange this comes after talk about opening up western sydney to the Aleague.

As stated by others, if anyone shoud move a home game to accomodate this is it should be the bling, thy are the ones that continually piss off their member base, and have no real connection to their community.

If it happens it should be boycotted and there shouldnt be a yellow shirt in the place.

I'm sure someone at the Mariners looks at this forum from time to time. If not, I'm sure they'll hear about the comments here soon enough anyways..

Look, last season they took a home preseason game away from the members with prior reserved seating and opened the ground to all, unreserved, for charity. And while I support the Mariners in backing charities I did argue (on the forum) that they should not have done so without consultation to folks who had already bought season tickets and who thought that game was to be inclusive with the season ticket. They did offer some compensation by way of a free ticket to a final in the pre season comp. I think.

I felt at the time that the Mariners management took the season ticket holders for granted and that we'd be happy to let this slide, which in the main was done.

Then the Mariners bent over for the FFA and played very pliant to them about the GF issue.

Who was it that organised all those coaches that ran from the CCLC on GF day? Was it the Mariners or Ticketek and CCLC?

Again, were the 'members' taken for granted?

Was there any complaints from the Mariners management when there was obvious attempts to put people in seats they didn't want to sit in at SFS when they tried to get priority booking, or did those complaints originate from the Marinators and other Mariners supporters? In the end the Mariners management might have taken Ticketek and the FFA to task, but how many folks lumped for the western facing seats they were being offered before that happened?

I believe Gen was one who took the booking agent to task, and I know I was offered similar shit seats and was being told that there were no seats available on the eastern side until I told them that there should be plenty of seats available as there were only what? 3000 max. Mariners' members - and we should be the only ones bidding for seats that day.

I'm now dead against the notion of using the word 'member' for what the Mariners are offering in season tickets. As a member of some club, you believe there's implied rights or privileges above the normal spectating public. It is getting less obvious that that is the case, as evidenced by the way they take us all for granted on a number of levels.

This latest one assumes we'll all be happy to pay money to travel to a place in Sydney for a home game, and lose the home ground advantage in the process.

Where is the consultation on this one?

Is it that hard for the Mariners to send out a questionnaire on the proposal with the 'member' renewal and let the 'members' decide if they want it to happen, instead of planting a story through a friendly journo and watching the feathers fly?!

Well put Spud.

Rest assured until this shit is flat out denied by the club or disproven by whoever, CCM will not be receiving any membership dollars from me for Season 4.  We're not some f*cking pawn for them to play a corporate game of chess with.

The simplest solution is to take one of Sydney's games against QLD or Melbourne and put it out there.  Problem solved, and the FFA gets their precious promotion into Western Sydney.
