ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

I agree at face value but suspect this is building for the future. Davidson is 31 as is Behich. He’s unlikely to be in for the next cycle.

Now it’s debatable whether King will be there anyway, I would argue Bos and Farrell are both on track to surpass him if their current growth continues.
I don’t think we should build for the future at a World Cup, surely you just take the best possible players, friendlies and low level qualifiers can be used to blood younger players.

As I said I do agree. There’s also the question of integration. Arnold has been doing just what you said so King has a level of familiarity with the team and setup while Davidson hasn’t featured in some time from what I recall. Would be easy to feel hard done by if I were in his shoes. Perhaps the larger issue is lack of rotation when we had the luxury of being able to.

You are quite right but with Covid and our precarious qualifying campaign it was difficult to blood those younger players .

Yeah - given That GA likes Stens versatility he could actually come in for Devlin and still add extra cover for CB. Souttar hasn't played many minutes for a year, Kye for 2 months and Trent for 6 or so weeks. Potentially 3 passengers so any cover there would help.

Not really. The midfielders selected deserve their shot and Stens hasnt had that much time since his injury which had him out for about 3 months. And he doesn't beat the CBs already there outright for their spots. If the CBs aren't up to it once they arrive in camp I dare say GA will bring in Sainsbury on medical grounds pretty quickly.

Can see him having a future in the squad long term though.

Stens will get his chance for the Asian Cup hopefully.
Doesn’t quite have the same allure about it ? Maybe I’m being too greedy as a guy who owns his 2020-21 away shorts and training shirt, but having him in there would’ve made the squad flawless in my eyes ?
