ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

The Socceroos thread.

Why the hell cant Australia produce proper strikers anymore. Taggart choked.

Blame Leckie !!

I have noticed the last few years that whenever Leckie plays, and concisely, when he is positioned in the wide right attacking role, he sucks into the middle taking up the strikers 'area' & subsequently scores the 'strikers goals' that the striker normally would.

ie. Tap-ins, on the end of crosses & picking up loose balls inside the 18.

Taggart subsequently was getting 'on-the-ball' wider than where he would of liked to have been.

When was the last time you saw Leckie use his 'infamous' pace and footwork ... beating defenders down the line
- then subsequently entering the corner of the 18yrd box & smashing it into the back of the net ???

& I know some may say, 'well Leckie scored a few!' BUT will he reliably score every game with this tactic of curcumventing whoever's at Striker.
- it just contributes to the conga-line of rotating /searching for the perrenially needed 'reliable goal scorer'

Until this 'creeping' part of Leckie's game is identified & rectum'afied, whoever? plays at Striker, will have less room to work when the pivotal chances arrive.

Taggart deserves the chance to get some games back to back in that setup. We’ve given others that chance and probably for too long the least we can do is stick with him for a few more games given he’s our most in form striker. Think he had the assist for one, Mooys goal?

Look's like a pretty strong lineup by arnie.

EXCEPT at the back !!
- Wonder how many minutes until the Bailey Wright fcuk-up ??

EVERY Socceroo Cap Postecoglou ever gave him SHOULD OF gone to Alex Wilkinson instead.

Interesting to see how the very young Soutar goes if he starts/plays.

I wouldn't worry about Bailey Wright we're 3-0 up after 25 mins

Yeah, goal to Harry Soutar on his debut ..... hopefully just the beginning of him pushing Wright out of contention in the future.

Arnold needs/should start as many 'fringe' players as possible against an even weaker Taiwan next Tuesday
... otherwise there's little gained from a certain 3 points :-|

It looked like we played a lot of fringe players this time

Souttar - good target but can he defend?. Happy to cap.
Wright - backup at best
Behich - very poor - a long way back to his best.
Milligan - Maybe he would have beem better next to Souttar - poor in the midfield.
Irvine - better when Giannou came on and he dropped a little deeper.
Maclaren - I have Boyle when fit, Giannou and Taggart in front of him.
Goodwin - showed enough to never play for the NT again.
Hrustic - looked much better than Goodwin - happy to lock him in.
