ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

bugger its going to be lonley on here with all the GA haters leaving

Why would they leave? ... it is now their home territory! In fact we could be joined by a hoard of new GA haters, come to feast.

At least we are getting the sympathy of our fellow fans (for a few seconds) and thanks for removing GA from the national scene.

One question I have is what will happen between now and July when he is released/let go from the National setup. Will Mossie be in, and double up with Manly for now?  I hope we don't let our youth slip away.  Lawrie said on Fox we had 13 signed, so Arnie has some leeway, if not the budget.

I have a vague memory that when GA was interim coach after Guus in Asia he was reluctant to do the job and was calling for FFA to hurry up and find the real head coach... maybe even Arnoldout is an Arnold hater!

He will be given a chance, it starts from now though. recruitment will be judged over the next 6 months then he gets a three month grace on the pitch (half way point of the season) If he does not have us in the top 5 or at least in the mix for finals (is a couple of points off 5th) at that point then the knives will start to come out. I think he will last the season but he has to make the finals less he be deemed a failure.

One thing puzzles me: if GA is as shit as everyone says he is, how has he lasted so long as assistant coach with the national team? Pim strikes me as someone who doesn't suffer fools gladly, so surely if he thought GA was rubbish he would've demanded someone better?
I also feel certain that Pim would've talked to Guus, who surely would've given him a heads-up.
I don't have an opinion either way as to GA's fitness for our club, but I would be interested to see a reasoned debate; I've seen all the rabid "arnoldout" stuff, I don't need any more of that, it's getting boring.

Fair post

3 things in brief:

His coaching record is dire

Players are less than nice about him and his ability (allegedly)

He is following a much loved figure at the club who hasnt been given resources but wears the results accordingly

That's the thing - you both have good points. I remember watching a very good striker playing sweeper as captain-coach of NS. I remember some of his dire choices as interim national coach and with the Olyroos.

However, he has been supported by both Guus and Pim - neither who suffer fools lightly. And FFC - I agree that Lawrie hasn't had the resources that GA apparently wanted guaranteed - but that at least means the resources may be made available to the team.

Let's all hold fire and see what happens.

Spoke to a mate at lunch today ... he said Robbie Slatter was on the radio this morning and Robbie said that FFA are funding the club and GA needs a job ... Essentially we take GA off their hands and they keep funds coming in to keep the club afloat.. Robbie went on to say if club management were not needing funding from FFA that we would have cast the net wider... still may have appointed GA but as it were we talked to no one else..

When has Slater said anything with an ounce of truth? The guy speaks just to hear himself.

Maybe right - but considering the source - I'll reserve judgement until it is verified elsewhere.

There is a positive coming out of GA's appointment ... If teams beat us  will remind GA of what a lousy manager he is.

Lose to us and the embarassed fans will be told that their manager is worse than GA and must be replaced immediately...
