the players chosen could certainly move in and out of different formations depending on the flow of the match

Likely team

--------------Vuko
Boogs-----Doig-----Wilko------Heff
----McGlinchey--Pedj---Hutcho
----Porter----Simon----Kwas

Bench - Elrich, Macca, Travis and Redders
d

I agree on teh selection but 3 upfront? I know we played this last year a few times, but without Mile, woulf have though a 442, or 4231 is more likely?
I'd be surprised? Not

In reality there will be only one up front and the selection of Porter up there gives that away. Pedj will have to play the holding role which means Mc and Hutch will have to tuck in, which means Porter and Kwas will also come back and cover players like Berger and Kemp.

Those players selected also give you plenty of workrate, pace and mobility in the front two-thirds and you will sure need it against Melbourne.

I like the way it looks.

Will be a 4-3-3 but yes Porter and Kwas will be expected to track back when required.

Both Kwas and Porter can whip over a good cross so hopefully we can get ourselves into some good positions.

Not a bad sent up.

I am still to be convinced that Elrich will not start ... his pre season form must have been bad not to start.

tbh 4-2-3-1 is my favourite 'variant' as well ;)

And FFC Mariners- worries you somewhat???
It worries me a hell of a lot! :p

form the 4-3-3 selection I suppose it will more likely in reality be a 4-5-1 IMHO

If we go 4-2-3-1 (ugh) then I hope Matty S has sorted his first touch out, 'cause he'll be copping plenty o' long balls to hold up and then have Porter and Kwasnik peel off him.....

Elrich had no pre-season form, or ACL form, and didnt play in much of the league last year.

If that is the way we play, We would be better off with Macca, and even nik IMHO. That said nik seemed to be doing much better at that in ACL than against sydney in pre-season. So not sure.

love the 4-2-3-1 but as someone mentioned Macca is a much better hold up man than Matty. I reckon Kwassie & Heff will kick arse down the left hand side. I don't know why we didn't revert to two holding midfielders when we lost Mile because it has been painfully obvious since his departure he still hasn't been replaced (I think you get what I mean). I've lapped up the $6 on sportsbet so go you mariners!!!!!!!!!

Y'know it can be played without the long balls...

Angles, options and width are the name of the game, with the ball being played out and people moving on to the next line to help. It's meant to be a very fluid, flexible setup with lots of points of attack. If we play long balls we're missing the point of the setup completely.

BrisRecky

I'm an idiot savant without the pesky savant bit
With a mere 4 or so hours to go until a ball is finally kicked in anger....I sit here in Casa Del Recky praying to my MurderDolls C.D's that Doig punches the shite outta Musc**t....pleasepleasepleasepleaseplease....

FIRE UP FARKIN....GAME TIME !!!!!
