Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

I've only watched one pre-season game (against the Lightning a few months back) - has McKinna suddenly dropped favourtism, decided his captain of 3 years is suddently not captain material, and adopted a 4-3-1-2 or a 4-2-3-1 in subsequent trials/pre-season hit-outs since??

Mark my words, a flat 4-4-2 with a high defensive line, Hutchinson to start and Wilkinson to be captain.  I will also attach to this a strong and proper desire to be proven wrong, because if these three things happen, Melbourne will murder us.  (and hey, if I'm proven wrong in that aspect as well then all the better)

Of course if we drop a little and stop them playing long balls over the top for him to chase...........
Could be fixed in the first few minutes.

I watched them train this morning - my first look this season. I don't think Boogs will get the get the gig at right back. Lawrie did not seem real happy with him this morning.

I think the XI will be  Danny, Porter, Wilko, Doig, Heff, Kwas, McGlinchey, Pedj, Hutch, Travis & Simon. It really depends on how LM wants to play. He is usually a traditional 4-4-2 man and seems to want to play Pedj in midfield. This then opens up the RB posotion for Smitta.

So it could be a 4-4-2 of

      Danny

Porter Wilko Doig Heff

Kwas Little Mac  Pedj Hutch

Travis Simon

or

4-2-3-1

    Danny

Porter Wilko Doig Heff

        Pedj Hutch

Travis Little Mac Kwas

      Simon

I like the 4-2-3-1 because it provides extra cover for the back four. Both Porter and Heff can bomb forward and both Travis and Kwas will track back.

No - no triallists there. Redmayne and Lewis were also missing. Huke was standing on the sidelines. He is a lot bigger than you might think close up.

They played 11 v 11 with Brown, Tobin and Crawley making up the numbers and LM calling the shots in the middle. Good movement from both sets. Not sure about the final execution, no-one found the net.

pj - i think both of those setups will be used, even within the same game - same personnel, they'll flick it around to suit the moment. can become a 3-4-3 when needed too.

Same XI - but if we went 3-4-3 I wouldn't have Heff at the back.

Former Celtic midfielder Michael McGlinchey will also make his debut but Sheffield United's Nicky Travis will come off the bench. "His visa has only just come through," McKinna said.

Some people might need to change their predicted XI's.

I notice ppl calling McGlinchey "Little Mac". Interesting to note Lawrie introduced him as "Wee man" up at Tuggerah Westfield LOL. Hopefully he will have the balls of Wee Man of Jackass fame.
