James, Wouldn't a sane person search out a better option? Say bus to Osaka then a deathstar flight direct to Sydney. Wouldn't of been that much more expensive.

Trust me I've down the crappy flights into Japan and yes you end up with 7 hour stop overs in Seoull Airport (about 10 years ago by myself at 17) catching z's on the couches but there are better options out there now with a bit of research

an 8.55pm flight from Osaka, with a change at GC would still get you to Sydney 9.50, 11.50 if your worried about your onward flight and giving it a 3 hr stop over. cost with 20kg checked luggage about $760 as opposed to the crap they went through and a $700 odd ticket that I sourced for singapore airlines

Someone needs to send the Jets to sleepinginairports.net! Maybe they're all Star Alliance FF members and wanted the crazy routing so they could get Elite Qualifying Miles?

Sounds like they're simply trying to get what they're owed. They're not trying to bargain for anything, they're just looking to get paid what was agreed. He's ripping off his workers. Therefore Con is not merely a loon, he's also in the highest order of scumbags.

Hasn't changed his spots from the NSL days by the looks of it. Just the scenario has changed.

Doubt they'll forfeit the match but I guess the players are sick of being offered bartered mangoes in return for the real dollars they are owed.

If, (big if), they do forfeit, the FFA should look at finally stepping in and demanding the management of that club sort themselves out before a ball is kicked in the A-League and if Con does go ahead with this season, have the FFA demand a bond in case of insolvency.

Con not paying people?

Surely not?

WTF would anyone sign for him, believe his bullshit and then be surprised when he duds them?

Proof positive that footballers are greedy and stupid really

He's right up there with Robert Chase and Charlie Amer among others. Both men were asset strippers who ruined their respective clubs.

Or Jesus Gil is a more appropriate comparison. The "achievement" of transforming Atletico Madrid from double winners to relegation in four years was surpassed by the Jets' disastrous V4.

From the scumherald:

THE Newcastle Jets' reputation was dealt a double blow yesterday when it was revealed former triallist Beau Busch had won a payout from the club and the Professional Footballers Association was again trying to recover unpaid superannuation and bonuses.

Busch spent three months training with Newcastle before last A-League season and appeared in two pre-season cup matches, having been offered a position as an injury replacement.

The defender resigned from his job as a journalist at the Newcastle Star to train full-time with Newcastle but was not required when the club signed Daniel Piorkowski from Melbourne.

Busch said he was assured he would be remunerated for his efforts, but when it became obvious he would not be paid, he contacted the PFA which took his dispute to Football Federation Australia for arbitration.

The arbitrator ruled in Busch's favour this week and the Jets have been ordered to pay the 25-year-old 12 weeks' wages, or more than $12,000.

In addition, the PFA was last night filing a grievance procedure with FFA for unpaid players entitlements for the past financial quarter, which ended in March.'

A PFA spokeswoman said last night the club had failed to meet yesterday's deadline. It is understood $45,000 was outstanding.

The Jets had only recently paid a separate $90,000, which was overdue from the first two quarters of the financial year, after PFA threatened the club with a letter of demand.

Busch, who eventually joined Sydney FC last season and has since signed for North Queensland Fury, said last night it was "a relief" to learn the FFA arbitrator had ruled in his favour.

"The main thing I was concerned about was that I didn't want people to think I was a liar and I was making it up and trying to rort the club," Busch said.

Busch said the money he was owed "would have come in handy" between February and April this year, after his contract with Sydney ended and he was forced to sign on for the dole.

Busch is the latest in a long line of people who have been forced to take legal action against the Jets over unpaid debts, a situation he described as "very disappointing".

"Newcastle is lucky in a way to have [Jets owner] Con Constantine to support football and keep football alive in the region, which is important, but Newcastle does deserve better, definitely," Busch said.

A PFA spokeswoman said Jets officials had "been given ample opportunity" to square up the unpaid super and bonuses to their players.

"But they haven't and so if we can't get them to do it amicably we'll have to do it through a grievance procedure," she said.

"It's a shame that we have to go that way. You would think a professional football club would act in a professional manner."

The Herald left messages with Constantine, Jets CEO John Tsatsimas and coach Gary van Egmond yesterday, but they did not return calls.

and how do you gather that? there are players suffering injuries almost every week. And in this case they have a ready replacement on the bench. So maybe for Ljubo but not for the club.
