ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Round III Jets v Mariners

is this the rocket that this team needs? the F3 passion injection!

game 1 - defended well, looked dangerous on the counter

game 2 - held the ball (passed it sideways and backwards)

game 3 - ???

Hmm, I never can predict how we go against jets. All too often we go out there so focussed on the 'derby' aspect of the match that we forget to play football. And really, when the Jets beat us that's usually why - they play football (mostly), we try to belt them so much we forget to play football.

The cool and collected approach vs Brisbane may serve us well for this match - but if they score, can we score back?

Our attack hasn't excited me enough this season.

I can't help but think that we may need a proper Marquee. Sure, Brisbane don't have it but they're tight enough to not need it. We just really lack a bit of spark, of creativity and flair these days and I don't know if any of our players can really provide it.

Wishful thinking of course - we just don't have the money for a marquee; but the catch-22 is that the more we play the batshit boring football of the last 2 games (and let's be honest, much of last season), the harder it is to get not only our fans to part money, but even the neutral supporters to watch our games.

We shall see - it's an important match for both teams, no doubt.

We dont need a marquee, we need a f**king good player like Broich. Perez was that player and I'm sure that Arnie is looking for one or has one in mind for the future. Imagine Perez here this year as Arnie had planned for. I wonder how long Arnie had his eye on Perez and how long it took him to convince the guy to come to Aus.

This season we have gone for quantity in the roster maybe due to the fact we will have a major strain on depth during ACL especially if we are around come post season. Arnie seems to have wanted 2 teams of generally equal strength (IMO he's done a fantastic job of it too) so that we dont lose too much in the A-League while he concentrates on ACL.

You're right that it doesn't matter if the f**king good player comes under the marquee banner or not - I was just reminiscing back to the days of Mori and Aloisi :p

a lot of you dont appear to like him however I would not mind seeing Baird at no 10. He's quick ,knows where the runs are has some foot work and will (unlike the current midfield display) contest the 50/50's

Baird isn't a great passer of the ball though. He would also have the same lack of vision that Pelle suffers from.

We have a marquee it’s just he is hurt ... Hope Musty will be fit sooner rather than latter...

We need a player maker in the number 10 role... Pele is just not in the class we need ... like a Hutch with less passion...But without a creator in the centre of the park both Olly & weeMac are way less affective.

I think the more time we can Bernie on the park the better he worries other teams and draws players to him much like Musty… thus creating space for those around him… also I do so much wanta see the Musty / Bernie connections…

As for the SCUM… no matter where they are running they always give us a tight match … and their fans give us crap… I hope we bury em but it could be tight … would love to see WHO ATE ALL THE PIES [Tinkler] bleed a little more …

Anyone know anything about the claims from the scum camp about Arnie being linked to the jets job due to unpaid contract agreements from the Mariners..?

There are lots of things happening in the background that some on here know about I'm sure. Question is whether they want to/can talk.

There are a lot of rumours flying around that's for sure. People need to just be careful what they say though, this is not the place for taking anonymous pot-shots.

Bernie is the striker we need up there with simon. Simon just needs to play as hard as he did in the last 10minutes all game. Fired up and hassling defenders.

Bring on kwas as the defence tires.

Ofcourse unless our midfield decides to do something this week, it is all wasted. weemac, pelle and even boz were our worst performers last week IMO

Even baird, who i dont rate, came on hungry and willing to throw his body in.
the midfield was not moving at all. They looked way too tired

Bring on the f**kin scummers!

Given how poorly the midfield is going I wonder if Arnie will throw Hearfield a starting jersey against his old club?

That could be just the tonic. Particularly with the Jets about to announce GVE as coach again, he and Troy had a huge falling out.

From an article at the time:
An angry van Egmond said he was "happy" to let Hearfield go in the end because "we have a no dickhead policy at the club".

376 days since the Jets have beaten us.

Just saying.

Try again - they last won against us on the 23rd October 2009 (round 12, season 5, when we were farken awful). We're up to 725 days.

It'll be 730 days or exactly two years by Sunday.

Funnily enough, the previous longest streak was also two years / 730 days - from 10th February 2006 (Minor Semi, first leg, season 1) to 10th February 2008 (Major semi, second leg, season 3).

All we need to do is not lose, and we take the record for our own!

If they had of stuck to their policy they wouldn`t have lost so much money on the Culina`s....lol
