But no terrible refereeing blunders and I think we'll get through.

Pfft we have Breeze.

So at least one brosque dive/penalty then

Well someone's going off for sure.

Fundly enough though I think he may be trying to do damage control on himself with all the poor calls he's made lately.

Was ok when he reffed our thrashing of GCU... lets hope the same Mariners and same Breeze turn up.

Re not at training Mick. Damn  :(

Re Matty -- Not surprised really -- didn't think he looked right last game.
So it's Mrdja promoted... Unless Lawrie wants to try Kwas in the 442, or go to a defensive 4231 again with D'Mac leading the line...

Thoughts people?
(Been a quiet lead up thread this week?)

Big Mac ready to serve up tasty treat

The goals may not exactly be flowing for Central Coast Mariners striker Dylan Macallister at the moment, but the imposing forward is confident that when one comes, plenty more will follow.

After returning from off-season shoulder surgery, Macallister suffered another minor injury setback early in the campaign, but has since returned to full fitness, resulting in consistent performances, which he hopes will translate into goals.

Ive had a couple of games now in the first eleven, and with two good 90 minutes under my belt Im feeling really confident and enjoying my football.

The chances are coming and one will go in sooner or later, and then hopefully I can get a few more. Im enjoying myself at the moment, and it should be a big one on Monday, Macallister said.

The Central Coast has conceded just four goals so far this campaign, but prior to the 3-nil demolition of the Gold Coast had only scored five.

According to Macallister, that victory helped the Mariners forward line believe it can be an attacking force.

We really saw that (the 3-nil win over the Gold Coast) as a turning point for us. Playing against one of the big sides, theyd done well and had come out and said they werent going to lose all season, so to come out and beat them 3-nil, and to score some good goals and to create a lot of chances for the team, it was really quite a special game for us.

Were working really hard in training, and hopefully we can get a big crowd there on Monday. Last years game at the (Sydney Football) Stadium was a special one, it was 3-all, and it was exciting, hopefully we can put on a good show again, Macallister said.

The positive for the Central Coasts frontline is that chances are being created, and at the other end, opponents are getting few opportunities to break down what is fast becoming the Leagues most resolute defence.

We copped a lot of flack during the second part of last season for not winning games and conceding a lot of goals, and the Champions League wasnt too good for us either, so to start this season as well as we have is credit to the boys and shows how hard we worked in pre-season.

We have a lot of fit players at the moment with not many injuries, we have a lot of confidence, and Im sure it will continue on Monday, said Macallister.

A true test of those defensive capabilities will come on Monday against Sydney FC, and Macallister is relishing the chance to face up to his hometown club, having scored the first goal in a 2-1 triumph over the Sky Blues last December.

Playing against Sydney is a game I always look forward to. They are supposedly a benchmark this year and have started off well, as have we. It was a stalemate here at Bluetongue earlier in the season, and I think this game is shaping up to be a clash of the titans.

Both teams are doing really well at the moment, playing attacking football, and we have conceded hardly any goals at all so our defence is really quite strong as well, which could be the key, and I think the Mariners will get up on this one, Macallister said.

The Mariners next home match of the Hyundai A-League 2009/10 season will be against North Queensland Fury on Sunday, 11 October. Kick-off is at 3:00pm. Tickets for this match are available online at www.ticketek.com.au <http://www.ticketek.com.au>  or by phoning 132 849.

Macca can lead the line, but will need support from wee mac and travis if he is going solo.

Expect another 7 or 8 fouls to try and put him off his game, as he cops every game.

I am thinkiing 2-1

Big and Wee mac to do the honours

Simon a 50-50 chance
Friday, 2 October 2009
by Sportal

Matt Simon
A fitness test at training on Saturday will determine whether striker Matt Simon is fit to lead Central Coast's attack in Monday's Hyundai A-League blockbuster against Sydney.

Simon suffered a hip injury in the early minutes of Sunday's scoreless draw against Wellington in New Zealand.

The striker played on but has been hampered at training throughout the week.

Coach Lawrie McKinna will run a close eye over Simon at training on Saturday before deciding on his starting side for Monday's crucial match at the Sydney Football Stadium.

Simon has netted three goals so far this year, including a great solo effort in the team's 3-0 whitewash against Gold Coast two weeks ago.

"He's struggled a bit during the week so at the moment he'd be about 50-50 for Monday," McKinna said.

"Matty is very important for us but you can't go into a game like this unless your fully fit."

"We'll have a look at him at training on Saturday and make our minds up then."

"If he gets through the session he'll be a chance, if not he won't play and we'll go with someone else."

McKinna said if Simon is ruled out Nik Mrdja or Adam Kwasnik would be considered for a starting berth up front with Dylan Macallister, who is still to find the back of the net this season, also in the frame.

After a consistent start to the season the Mariners know a victory against the Sky Blues could see them lead the table, depending on other results.

"We always seem to have exciting games against Sydney, I think this will be no different," McKinna sai

He needs to get his head up and face the bloody goals and work his ass off off the ball - stretching the line and creating space.

Well as the football universe has clearly been reversed with Perth having two completely undeserved wins on the road...

Their home record is about to suffer as a result.

Fury with Talay functions much more optimally and they are desperate for a win.

Fury to get up. Put some money on it ;)  I have.  :ashamed:
