Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Round 22 - Perth away

DDS and Wout were the only players who looked A league standard. Golec tried hard and was the best of the back 4. The rest were woeful. Sadly Melling had a shocker and showed just how dependent we are on Tommy.

Glad I missed that Currently in LA got of the plane looking forward to watching the game but then saw this f**k it. I'm done It's back to the league for me this year See ya next year.

Maybe
Yeah don't bother watching it. It was the usual awful, toothless, embarrassing rubbish.

I will probably watch more games this season but I'll no longer be prioritising them. Plans first, then if I happen to be free when the game is on I'll watch it. There's just nothing left to enjoy.

I absolutely will not be going to any more games this season. I know this will draw a dislike from many, but I'm a member and they have my money so it's a protest move. Besides - if you keep getting slapped across the face at some point you should stop presenting your face right.

Was hoping I would feel less betrayed than I did immediately after the game last night but no unfortunately not. I expect some of the appeasers on here will suggest that using the word betrayed is too harsh but to me that’s what last night (and too many others this season) felt like.

If that’s a team playing for its pride and slim finals hopes, or one that believes in it’s coaches’ game plan, then I am Dame Vera Lynn.

I have made my views on the current coaching staff (Balder & Nash excepted) very clear on numerous threads but it is painfully clear that Okon is not what this club needs now or into the future imo. We need someone who works even harder when things aren’t going well, not giving the playing group four days off after squeaking past the tenth placed team. Someone who is prepared to think positively about how to change the momentum of a game, not stick to dogmatic processes in the falatious belief that is enough to make the difference.

MC & SM need to stop delivering little but false dawns, as these are doing nothing more than wearing down the most loyal fans (the fair weather ones have long since left the building), which suggests the point of no return has, or is dangerously close to being reached.

Nix had the bottle to dump a coach that was destroying their club from within, if only ours did too. Okon’s body language was that of a dead man walking again last night, where he surely should have been trying to coax more from the team. If he doesn’t believe the players can do it, why should they?

I have just listened to Paolo’s press conference and if there’s a less inspirational coach in the A League at this point in time, I’d be hugely surprised. To my ears at least he talked a lot of guff to be honest, all stuff he has repeated time and time again (how we were dominant in possession, lacked resilience in key moments etc etc), please change the record mate. Why not challenge the players to strive to be better to want the result more, that might be a refreshing (and honest) change just for once.

I can only hope that Paolo’s record will be enough for the club to realise that the Okon experiment has failed. He has been given enough time to build his team and it clearly isn’t good enough to compete in a (let’s be honest) very ordinary league this season. The team we have should not be languishing in ninth and that surely has to come back to the coaching (or lack of it).

MC & SM now need to be brave enough to stop the rot now and give our long suffering fans some much needed genuine hope for the future. MC needs to find a way to fully invest in the team and give a new coach a fighting chance of representing our region with some real pride.

I switched off after the first goal and went to bed. That was enough for me to realise that if I sat up and watched the rest, I'd go to bed cranky.
I feel cheated that we are not improving and there's no hope of any improvement for the rest of the season. I'm a Sydney based fan, formerly from the coast. I live within walking distance of Smuf HQ so it would be easy for me to support SFC next season, but I won't.

I have grave fears that once 'The Championship' starts we will be relegated never to return to the top flight. Which brings me to a thought I have which is that MC & SM are saving bucks until relegation becomes a possibility. Perhaps then and only then will some cash be spent?

If the club cannot see that Okon is failing to motivate this team, then I really can’t be arsed to renew my membership next season. Enough is enough. Please listen to the fans Shaun, we cannot go through another season of this utter shite.

Ben Cahn's Olympic were 2 down on 80 minutes tonight, he went to plan B and drew 2 all. Would be cheap, imaginative and not Okon

Thought Baro was good enough to be A-League standard, was let down by Melling's defensive positioning time and time again though.

IMO it's a really good time for a new manager to come in. The seasons gone but guys should be playing for new contracts. It's a good time for them to see if they fit the new guys style and to try a few things without consequence.

Did it last night and have no regrets, had people over, had the game on in the background. Walked past see us conceed and go back to the friends. Was much more enjoyable. Then read here not to bother watching it and if i need a sleeping pill the test cricket is on without the pain of watching the Mariners with no soul.
Get the highlights on foxsports app. Takes the pain away.

Won’t be bothering unless nothing better on and especially the way Paul has them attacking and with no Tommy we are Fckd

Don’t know wether to call you brave or stupid. You knew Tommy’s out and you still travelled to Perth to watch the team. Credit to you. Hope Perth is at least a nice place to visit.

Be interested to hear how they are to watch because they are supposed to be playing the exact same style (the acedamy team of course not CCU)

Termination and employing someone else now would just equal more expenditure, so can’t/won’t happen even if the club wanted to. I can deal with that.

I don’t expect someone could come in now and get our players to play a different style. Change shape though... But for multiple reasons we’re not even suited to a different formation right now either.

Get what you are saying and it’s what will happen and after the last game i can see an announcement saying we have agreed to a mutual agreement not to re-sign Paul (wether you hear he has signed elsewhere a week later is irrelevant)

However if they do release them now it shows the club won’t stand for this crap and there are a couple of blokes on the payroll who can do the job for a couple of weeks.

The academy coach can do both. Not ideal but who cares.

Monty. He has his badge? He’s just in the head office for the PR.

I’ll do it for free, I’ll even coach from home on the mobile phone if they don’t want to buy me a plane ticket for the away games. My first change is to play a LB at LB. bit revolutionary but get on board

Probably a bit of both Al, whilst it was nice to be able to attend a game at NIB, we had planned lots of other stuff over the weekend (we are on Rottnest Island today), which has softened the blow of last night’s insipid performance somewhat. Like I said earlier, the club is going to have to show some serious intent for next season, it it wants us to renew our membership.

Ramon Tribulietx is the coach of Auckland City and they are punching well above their weight and as champions of Oceania they have been to international tournaments and performed well above expectation...

He wants his first A-League gig and would not be overly expensive.

Interesting article on him from NZ ... he needs to upgrade his licence but he has a impressive Cv to date.
