Round 16 Mariners V Glory Boys

I was pondering why the mariners either win by 3 or 4 goals or draw nil all.  its always a totally different type of game when when they score early, its like their get a wolfs that get a taste for blood.

so they seem to start strong, score and go on to complete annihilation or get frustrated and loose their sh1t, no middle ground... i want to see them win a few 1 nil!!!

Mrdja back to his pea hearted best, blaming everyone but himself. f**k OFF NOW AND SAVE US ALL THE PAIN

And just which game were you watching? Certainly not last night's game because while Nik wasn't good, he also wasn't the worst on the park.
I guess it's just your mindless hatred of the man blinding your eyes.

Where did I mention he was the worst on the park?

Pea hearted best - his attack on the ball when he was in the 50/50 with Velaphi was pathetic

Blaming everyone but himself - if you didn't see him doing this then what game were you watching? Go back over the games where he has played shit, and you will see him blaming everyone else for his non runs and not having the ball played to where he is standing. When ever he does this he is terrible and brings down the rest of the side.

I'd also like to point out that I have been a big believer in Mrdja over the years, and thought that he would come good in time. But I have been disappointed week after week, month after month and year after year. The less time he gets on the pitch for the rest of the season the better it will be for us.

How can anyone say Mrdja had a worse game than Kwassie?

Kwassie could not link up with Mrdja if his life depended on it. Meanwhile, Mrdja made some good passes back to a running midfield, and was very unlucky not to score when Velaphi checked him (which should have resulted in a penalty.) Our major problem was the mids weren't linking up with the forwards properly. Wee Mac was looking our most dangerous player in the first half, we really needed to sub Travis on for Bojic at half time. Then give Matty 30 min for Kwassie, we would have had 2 fresh firing players.

Well, lets look on the good side. Next week we should be fired up and playing better!

See my reply above. But I don't think Kwas likes play with Mrdja. Kwas was playing fine when partnering Matty up front, and I think you will a better Kwas next week playing alongside Matty again.

His 50/50 with Velaphi failed because of lack of pace, not faint-heartedness.

And when he gets in position and the pass doesn't get to him, that's his fault? Get real. If you can come up with some realistic criticism I'll listen to you. I'm sick to death of this crap of blaming one player when the whole team was ordinary.

You've been a big believer in Mrdja over the years, but you've been disappointed year after year?? Do me a favour. If that's the way you believe in someone then God help someone you don't believe in.

Still not convinced that Wee Mac defending a post at corners is all that smart.

We will get caught out on this sooner or later
At least we have someone on the posts now  ;)

you always have your smallest bloke on a post

rather have him on a post than marking chris coyne!!

I think traditionally you always have your full backs on the posts and the centre backs pick up the tall timber.

not when you have people like heff and boogs as your fullbacks - they would always be first choice in marking players

traditionally you had fullbacks taking posts because they used to be small

in this day and age when all eleven players are marking in the box for set pieces it makes no sense to have your smallest guy anywhere but the post

I would likle to see Elrich given a start up front he has better touch and a better turn than Nik & Kassie ... deep down I hope he is trying to get back to his best...

A little thing when he came on up front last night he played more like a natural No 10 just in and behind  Matty and that could be a nice combination with the mids streaming in behind..

didn't i get the "inanimate rod" call when i said that?

i thought wee mac was alright. he had a couple of pass that had a touch, to much on them .that would have been dangerous otherwise .which to me , signals the pitch was the issue.

i don't think perth (east africa) are being acknowledged for the quality side, they are .
i see them as a GF contender.

Just an observation - but our worst performances seem to be against teams that have two big central defenders - e.g. Adelaide, Perth.

Maybe we need to approach these teams differently.

i dunno bout Perth...
They played some weird and unique football.
Some nice snappy passes, but their style is very unorthodox. It's not attractive to me, but its not unattractive either.
I'm undecided :p
