Round 10 vs Fowler FC

Only CCM could say 'hey, we're in the lead now, we don't need to do anything for the other 89min45sec, right?'
My god that had to be one of the most boring games I've seen in my life.

We played will for a bit...well, kinda.  Well as a team, but individually ineffective, largely.

After that goal instead of really lifting or trying to dominate (dominating has never been a skill CCM has been proficient at) we sat back - like usual - and said to the opposition 'do you want to score?  Are you sure?  We're happy for you to score, really.  C'mon, have a go.  No, didn't get it that time, here, keep at it son, you'll get it'.  We sat back for the best part of that 90min and let FNQ slowly dominate us - not because they played better but because most of our players didn't seem to give a shit.

Matty Simon is one of the few players who was actually somewhat useful, and I love how he'll come right back to our goal line to defend.  Even Kwas was ineffective...he isn't the same player he was when he was with us before, sadly.

This is 2 points that went begging.

i watched the replay...and I am majorly pissed off at Kwasnik. What a stupid thing to do...strikers are all about positioning (and converting that as well...). He wasted a great chance!

Player most offside in the HAL this season?

1 Archie the Tard.

Assume you wouldnt want an idiot like him up front for us?

A good striker plays off the shoulder of the last defender and is often likely to get caught offside. A good CB will anticipate and move up (if they remember to look along the line that is).

OK...my tuppence worth without having seen a replay on the telly yet.

Firstly Marinators are in a much better spot now really stepped up today. The juniors down the front were awesome and didn't stop singing all game.....dude on the megaphone did a fantastic job as well.

CCM were great for first 15 minutes and I thought we were going to win 4.0.  As usual we went into our shell and were plain lazy in the second half.

Danny...one great save.
Boogs...pretty good
Heff.....pretty good
Wilko....pretty good
Doig........the bloke is a monster and truly runs the show, we would not have conceeded with him on the park.
Porter....couple of good crosses but is so lost at times at this level.  For mine not a starting 11 player.
Bojic....crap mainly but tried hard. Embarrasing going forward and not a centre mid for mine.
Travis...showed quality but faded abit.  Best of the middies.
D'Appuzzo.....didn't impress me at all.  One good stike.

Kwas....not as bad as some are making out. Did some good things and the finish on the offside goal was clinical.
Simon....great effort and top goal.

Subs.  Crowell...can definately tackle but looks like he gets nose bleeds if he strays to far forward.
Clarke...whatever.
D-Mac....nice touches and played quite well BUT is so lazy and doesn't close down at all.

We misses Hutcho and WeeMac big time and we are in desperate need of a quality striker to partner Simon.

Amazing, I agree with Wombat. I feel compelled to admit it.

I thought Kwassie and Matt showed they are prolly the best 2 up front from what is available.

Matt looks as though he is carrying an injury still.

D'Apuzo played the best game I have seen him play but was still not good enough.

Porter is a goer but spends to much time on his heels (not the only one). Too slow to react. A bit lost and has looked more comfortable at RB.

The pitch was again shit and along with NQ physical game was the reason many looked stuffed.

Take out a large part of the spine of the team (Doig and Wee Mac) along with Hutch and it becomes a big ask for the rest. Unfortunately no one really stepped up.

We desperately need another striker (small and quick, who can score), another CB for when Doig is out.

I am beginning to look on this season as rebuilding and next season for silverware. We have made some good signings but we need a couple more.

Agreed.

We need a genuine right back and at least 2 more strikers.

A spine of

Danny
Wilko Doig
Hutch
Matty

Is a good start but we need another striker......quickly

Agreed, i was dead inline and could not believe he did not slow down. That said i could not believe porter kicked it when he could see kwas in front of him.

Forgot to mention the quality decision of the linesman when matty had to literally round his defender after the ball had been kicked and was called offside :(

Pedj was ordinary going forward, but very solid defensively

It was on target...and for Kwassie....that is clinical.
Clinical? It was straight at the keeper who f**ked it up

Some people must have attended a different game to me on the weekend. I saw nothing positive out of the game. Granted that Simon scored within the first 14 seconds of the game beyond that I saw nothing to get excited about. In fact quite the opposite. The way that the team is playing at the moment I doubt that we will make the playoffs. Even if we do I see no chance of us lifting any trophies.

The service between the defence, midfield and forwards was sloppy to say the least. It seemed that the game plan was for Boogard to fling it upfield to Simon in the hope that he could out play his man. I don't know how many times I saw a quick turnover because the only option was to play the long ball. When Porter had the ball he seemed bereft of ideas on what to do with it. There was no running in to space and no quick distribution and little attempt to control and retain the ball. From my perspective most of the payers seemed so disinterested out there. Example, DMac strolling towards the ball on the right in the final few minutes when there was a good chance to win possession and nip it back in field.

It's no use playing a long ball to a target man if others are not going to run off him and I am continually frustrated every time I see this happen. It is called football for a reason, because it is played with the feet, and not the head. Bombing it up field does not retain possession.

You only have to look at the stats from the game and the season in general. Fury had the weight of possession for the match and our shots on goal and shots on target for the season make for pretty sobering reading. Our for and against looks great on paper but we have the lowest for in the league. Next up we have five away games. How will we come out the other side of this? Feel free to shoot me down but the facts are there for all to see.

Exactly. DMac looks so lazy. There were opportunities for him to put pressure on the opposition in the short time he was on but looked like he couldnt be bothered running. He actually seemed more enthusiastic running down the tunnel to get an umbrella for Lawrie when it started to rain.

Simon looked much the same about the time Dmac came on but he had been running his backside off for 3/4 of the game so was understandable.

I though simon looked boned by half time and never really came back. Either very tired, or still injured.
At that point it was only a tired kwas doing the running, and not putting much pressure on the defence between them.

Dmac was remarkably quiet after his first 5 minutes he did not seem like he was bothered anymore.

The strikers were not being complimented from midfield IMO. They were constantly isolated with 4 or 5 fury defenders around them. Though even when the midfield/defence went forward they were swamped with defenders, and no options.

How many times did porter/pedj/heel/d'a head forward and get caught between the sideline and 3 defenders?

I think that was our major problem, if the midfield were moving up quickly, as a group, giving options, then there would have been gaps with the amounth of players fury were commiting to the ball. They would have also tired, instead we tired because we lost it constantly and gave them more incentive to continue that ploy.

Agree. It seemed that half the players out there were the same in terms of the fatigue factor which is worrying. It suggests to me that their fitness levels are no where near where they need to be.
