I seriously reckon we should try Travis up front. He has the quality touch that is needed plus speed and mobility and would be an ideal foil for Matty.

i thought Kwas did a fairly decent job and looked lively all game and was very unlucky to have been called offside! Simon and Kwas upfront FTW

Pedj had no idea when he came forward
I agree. He is not bad at screening. But going forward he always took on 1 or 2 extra payers than he should have. He should stay focused on his role in the team. I mean it is refreshing somewhat to see someone take on players but tbh its Kwassie the 2nd :p

RONALDO: (Doing step overs) Watch my feet little maltese man! Watch my feet!

HUTCHO: Mate, I ain't really from Malta.

RONALDO: See how they move!? See how they move!?

HUTCHO:  Step over this dancing boy!

Insert Batman style... THWACK... KAPOW... BOOM... style captions...

Ronaldo is out for Malta game after picking up ankle injury (and being subbed 15 mins into game vs Hungary).

Pedj looked tired today and by his standards has had a couple of off weeks, but even on his lesser form better than what most defensive mids in the league provide. He is quality and will bounce back to his extremely impressive best soon I'm sure.

Best summing up from the gaffer - be very interesting to see how he fixes it.

"Everybody keeps going on about our good defence but I think were going to have to start looking at ourselves.

"Thats two soft goals in two weeks, and its only one goal but its not good enough.

"Were being second to the ball and excepting it, thats just not good enough.

"Weve had two opportunities to go top of the league and weve not taken them. We had a chance to win today against a team which is bottom to get ourselves right back in the mix over the next couple of weeks to challenge again and we let ourselves down, and the supporters who were great today, came out in big numbers in terrible conditions.

Yeah it was very good. We are dropping our intensity this year. It's not easy, when we are on. we set a high bar. It takes huge mental strength to do for ninety minutes. But thats what they're paid for and its what will get the job done.

Fury started muscling up, and we started to back off. Its what we did against Sydney.

Nathan Sherlock for RB please. I love Clarkey, but we need to fill this position long term and he looks to have the quality to do so. Time to give him a chance I say if Doig will be out against the roar.

Re Kwas... He did very well in the first half but tired in the latter of the second - as did several of our key players. Physical game - rhythms change - we didn't have the legs to cope with Williams and Daal when they came on which made Fury look good as we stood off and were slower to close down.

In lieu of no current better options, Kwas deserves another start upfront imo.
he did well overall, with his runs in the first half being the best consistent runs to stretch and threaten a line that we have had this year from any of our strikers this year. It opens space in the middle and provides real threat. If we had Hutch and Weemac to take advantage of it, we could quite likely have been 3 up at half time.

Dapuzz looked good to me. Two moments of sloppy defense, but some good touches under pressure and some good runs to and a few good tackles to. He closed down quite well, just a little unsure I thin of his balance of responsibilities between getting wide and getting back to help. Not as clear cut a role to play as left back - give him time and he looks like he may warrant it.

Well, yes, that - but the passing and movement wasn't half bad (not against-the-Gold-Coast good, but y'know).  Defensive howler for their goal??

no just a corner that McBreen got his head to then it hit the crossbar then the back of danny and went in the goal, reminded me of acl :(

Typical Fury goal by the sounds of it.  ;)

It was a howler, Clark was left on McBreen for the corner and while he got infront of him, he then forgot to jump. In subsequent corners they got Big Mac into the box for McBreen. Clark is past his used by date and we must look at someone else.

How could it be bad luck. He was looking directly at the defenders and Porter. He was clearly offside.

Blame the BT surface. It took the sting out off everyone. However the game showed a glimmer of speed in D'puzzo and yes he has shown that touch in the yoof (drawing penalty against gold coast) and obviously at training.
With weemac  out and Doig only on for half a game we were back to the ACL crap so its obvious that the clean out has to be bigger than expected.
That game clearly showed that wilko is not the driving force you need at this level and who allowed clarke to mark that guy.
The corner before he almost scored because no one marked him.
But take the disapointment of not winning I enjoyed the day BT mascot and all.

Wasn't pretty but obviously the rain had a lot to do with the quality of the game. Another great opportunist goal from Matty, sloppy goal to give away for us though. If Doig had been on the pitch then i'm sure we would have closed it out. Thought we looked better when D-Mac came on, at least he was holding the ball up for us. Crowell looked good when he came on and should be pushing for a starting place. We missed Wee Mac and Hutcho big time. Let's hope for a better performance next week, think we will.

Finally, Marinators could hear you from the other side of the pitch. Keep up the good noise

+1
I have criticised a player at u18B's level for doing that! I think a pro should be able to half time his runs. Even Inzaghi (who was born in an offside position :p ) who happens to be offside 9/10 times knows how to keep himself onside from crosses. Just be behind the kicker of the ball is all that's needed!
