ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

I`ve had a lot to do with the Catholic Club over the years.
The CEO there is Italian & loves his Football (sadly he`s a Driveby`s supporter).
There is no way they would deliberately not have football on.
I feel for you mate , it was a tremendous game with Caceres really showing his ability as a potential star footballer.

Heart , drive bys is rigged a pently and two foul goals. F'kn red hot.
guess who, Gillet
Melbourne Heart coach John van 't Schip says Western Sydney received plenty of help from the match officials in their 3-2 comeback win on Saturday night.
The Wanderers were awarded a soft penalty which Shinji Ono missed with the scores level at 1-1 in an entertaining contest at AAMI Park, while Brendon Santalab was not penalised for what appeared to be a blatant push on centre-back Robbie Wielaert in the build-up to the visitors' second goal.
Youssouf Hersi struck the winner in the 86th minute to consign Heart to last place in the regular season standings.
And van 't Schip did not hold back in offering a scathing assessment of referee Jarrad Gillett's performance.
'It was a clear push,' he said when asked about Santalab's equalising goal to make it 2-2.
'That's why Robbie Wielaert was on the ground. But that was not the only one. It looked like the game had to be won by Western Sydney.
'Not taking anything away from them because they're a great team, they've done really well in the last two years and I wish them all the luck in the finals. But the game went clearly their way with a little bit of help from the other side.
'Today I think there were maybe other aspects that played a role. One of them was the referee. We can't do much about that. During the week we don't train on that, getting those decisions against us.
'Playing against 12, that's always difficult.'
Van 't Schip did pay tribute to the efforts of his players, including retiring skipper Harry Kewell, who was unable to prevent his team from collecting the wooden spoon.
'I have to give the boys a big compliment, the way they played,' he said.
'Our captain, I have to give him a big compliment, the way he finished his career. I think he played a fantastic game. That's what we should talk about.'

I thought the foxtel commentary was gutless and glossed this over as they know which side the breads buttered on.
every time you see gillet appointed . you know he's gunna do everything he can. to win it for the bosses team.
shame FFA shame

Exactly...they can't even use "a scheduling conflict" as an excuse...Foxtel knew the draw as well asanybody else

I'd guess (without much fear of contradiction) that the other sports were more likely to get more viewers. Viewing numbers -> programming decisions. Small viewership = punted off to the back-channels.

I've been following football a long time, but football fans' capacity to get worked up about very simple commercial realities never ceases to amaze me.

The sports section in the Errorgraph today had a Victory article, most of 2 pages taken up with WSW and a preview of the Smurfs game; later an article on GA maybe going to the Scum. If you didn't know, you'd have thought CCM hadn't played.
I don't normally read the Errorgraph, my wife wants the TV guide from it (which is often wrong!), I was babysitting my grandsons & there was nothing else. It didn't take me long to remember why I don't read this worse than fish'n'chips wrapper.

I seriously doubt the ruggers has a larger viewing audience than the football .

Err... went to press before the game had finished. Table shows Mariners on 39pts.

Considering the A-League on Fox last weekend didn't get over 50k in TV viewers for any of the 3 games on a Saturday, I'd say it might get more viewers.

Who the hell watches GWS.

They get about 3k each home game and I'm told 1k of those are freebies.

Even in 3rd place, we can't fly under the radar now having accounted for both frontrunners in the last 3 weeks.

Will be interesting to see if finals scheduling conspires to kill us with the ACL commitments. If the Friday / Sunday timeslots are inflexible, we have to either play next Sunday as 'stadium formerly known as Bluetongue' is booked on (Good) Friday for Manly vs Cowboys NRL  or FFA moves the game :redcard: - which they have the power to do. (Of course we also have ACL on Wednesday at home, only WSW are away this week).

Should we progress, it would be very tight for getting home from Hiroshima after playing on Wednesday night to back up on Friday (Anzac Day) at Parramatta, so would mercy be shown and give us Sunday again? Eels are away that weekend.
If Victory get through they are also away in Asia that week but play Tuesday.

A lot of big calls went the Drive Bys way … the penalty, both the second and third goals looked like fouls …

Sometimes Kama can come back and bite …

Assume the following ie Sydney win today

Week 1

Mariners V AU … assume Mariners win
MV V SFC … assume MV win

Week 2

Roar V MV … assume MV win
Drive Bys V Mariners …. assume Mariners win …

Week 3

Mariners V MV ….

Then again would FFA allow the Mariners to have a home grand final…

Didn't we earn the right to a home final last year? if not then DriveBys had it and FFA still moved it to SFS, so I doubt we'll have any home GFs for a long while

Hard to know their thinking TBH. There has been statements about it being a showpiece event which should be held at an appropriately prestigious venue. Can't argue with that.
Then FFA will want their gate. The 2 Grand Finals moved have attracted 36,358 and 42,102, significantly more than Bluetongue's and Parramatta's capacity. But they were in reasonable road / rail commute distance for both teams involved. But if we were hosting MV (or Adelaide - the other possibility if Sydney don't win today) it's hard to see a ground in Sydney being filled to greater than Bluetongue's capacity and it would actually be likely to attract fewer than if it was held in Gosford.

For mine, these comments are for another year. If we make it this year, I think we'll be off to Suncorp.
