The formation was mind boggling TBH.

Absolutely... What was lawrie thinking, only needed one change. I doubt we will see Tadrosse again, Downey owned him and looks like a top prospect.

That was the shittest game of football I have ever seen. I feel sorry for the glory, 2 goals better than us tonight. I thought Dave Mitchell was gonna shoot himself at the end there poor bastard.

Lawrie's "tactics" really took our midfield out of the game and this Long ball nonsense needs to be sent packing. It is so boring to watch and takes Caceras out of the game who looks dangerous every time he is in possession.

Not one standout tonight everyone was shit house and throw Lawrie's strategy into the mix as well. Piss Poor!!!

I do look forward to Serious14's post though

Don't understand why LM played Caceras up front??? Petrovski & Mrjda on the bench and he plays our only creative mid up front. Caceras has been playing well at the front of the midfield so that really was confusing.

I also don't understand why he waited so long to change?? And then took Caceras off for a striker instead off moving him back into the midfield to get the ball and sacrificing a defender?

Worst display from LM i have witnessed. How much longer can our luck go on.

Vukovic needs to relearn to tie his shoes or at least give redders a start, to snap him out of complacency. VUKO'S, LEARN TO DIVE!!!!, jedi nor matty matty didnt fire, and therefore dmacs impact was severely reduced, his rebound goal, would have been goal of the A-league:D

something needs to be done with porter and the back four in general, absolutely no talk especially during Glorys 2nd, (the old perth glory are getting to where they used to be).
rukavytsya did what he does best, quality finishes. i fear the worst against roar!!!
alas we seem to be heading the way of FC. . . . . South
COME ON YOU YELLOW!!!!!

I had a go at Danny a couple of weeks ago. His footwork and positioning was shot - probably because of such a stange build up to the season for him. No complaints today though. There is no way you can blame him for either goal and he made some important saves.

From the Mariners website buddy.
Signed as short-term cover for fellow left sided player Dean Heffernan, Tadrosse had only recently returned to Australia after two years in Europe, where he last played for Borussia Mnchengladbach II in Germanys fourth-tier Oberliga Nordrhein throughout the 2007/08 domestic season. Prior to this stint, Tadrosse enjoyed a short stay with KFC Uerdingen, who also play in the Oberliga Nordrhein, after contributing eight appearances to the Melbourne Victorys inaugural Hyundai A-League season. Most notably, Tadrosse was a cornerstone member of Australias 2005 FIFA Under-20 World Cup campaign in the Netherlands, where he made an appearance in each of Australias group matches as part of a squad that also included Mariners team-mate Danny Vukovic and a host of players that recently starred for the Qantas Under 23s at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.

Too short, too slow.

yeah definately but jimmy downey must be one of the quickest players in the league. Tough assignment in first game for us but in saying that we get some good backs coming back in. I was surprised d'appuzzo didn't play. I know he is slower than tadrosse but I think he is a better defender.

True they did have pace. It would be awesome to have someone with blistering speed.

Emm...poor performance.
Defence was poor and probably we didn't dend out our best possible side.

Danny made some good saves but is unconvincing one on one.
Tadrosse...not sure maybe slightly better than  D'Appuzzo but not great
Boogs...slow but commited (yellow for mine not a RED)
Wilko..OK
Porter...he IS shit defensively but not bad going forward with some good crosses
Mile....great goal but average tonight
Hutcho...poor for mine
Osman..OK
Caceras..OK
Simon....good lively effort
Macca...a handful but looked clumsy sometimes

We were so much better when Gumps came on. He gives the ball and goes at pace dragging defenders away opening up space for the players inside.

Because our only creative player was out on the left side as a forward. If caceras was in mid.......

:piralaugh:

To be fair, and so I don't face my usual accusations of "I hate Hutch", I'll run through the entire team.  :p

Danny - hmmmmmm.......

Porter - needs to be straight swapped with Osman.  Surely Lawrie can see this??

Boogs - stupid stupid STUPID f*cking tackle late in the game.  QLD must be licking their lips at the defence they will get to run at next week

Wilko - okay, look, I'll be fair....... he was shit.  Utter, utter shit.  Slightly better than in previous weeks, but at the moment, that's not a hard thing to do.  Too slow, out of position, blah blah blah.  It's all been said before.

Tadrosse - yeah, um, no.

Osman - solid where he was, but is needed more at RB than RM right now.

Jedinak - asidde from the free kick (;D), an unusually off game for him.  Pushed passes that he probably shouldn't have tried to, and let the defence run at him all night.  Strange.

Hutcho - *shakes head and walks away*

Mac Attack - miskick of the season??  He's got a Tommy P first touch going on though with his feet (i.e.  that of an elephant) which I hope he can bring under control, because his chest and head control is exceptional

Simon - does this guy ever stop running??  Love it!!!

Caceres - deployed into the wrong position in a mindboggingly wtf formation.  Needed to be dropped in behind (centrally, more or less) the two strikers, and given his typical roaming role.

Sasho - that's why we pay him.  Another 6 yard special.  ;D

Mrdja - getting better, looks hungry.

Gumps - start him ahead of Hutch.  Now.

Btw, can we steal sign Nikita in the off season??  What a gun, he seems wasted over there.  Imagine what he could do with actual service??

WTF is it with the Danny should have done better. The one on ones that are saved are often when the striker is a lot closer, Ruka hit his from the perfect distance and Danny did not have a play on it.

That second goal was just bad defense nothing he could do on that

We need these 2 starting in midfield ASAP.

For whoever said "who would ever agree with a man in yellow getting sent off"

I would - Danny Vukovic hit a referee, how could one not agree with that. I'm a massive Mariners fan (I was since the bid process) but I'm not going to deny fact just because it's against a yellow player (after watching a replay).

I think Cockerill got it right in the post match, it was a bad challenge but could have been a yellow, Boogs was being niggly before and that would have played on the referee's mind.

All in all not the best performance - I agree about the formation, seemed he was using it to give Petrovski a boot up the bum, but why do it like that when he could have just played he's favoured 442? I agree with Lawrie, some poor decisions were made by all concerned.

Hmm not sure why Sash needed a kick up the bum. He has worked his bum off - particularly tracking back in defense - seems a strange reason to me.....
