yeah, but it's pretty sad when we're just hoping the other team don't score any more. I
really can't see where a goal is coming from for us. Been like that all season.

I dunno - It feels like there's still a bit of feeling each other out up front there. It's been happening quite a bit, Austin gets the ball clear and passes into an advantageous position... Roy is moving, in the meantime and finds himself in an advantageous position... Unfortunately they're two different really advantageous positions.
Sometimes it feels like those situations where players who have played together for a while, instinctively know where to find each other... Every now and then, it does click for us though - which is nice...
I think Roy's got at least one in 'im today... We'll see I guess... That is, if he doesn't get a second yellow off something stupid before :(

Ascroft got two fouls against him in quick succession. The first was when Finkler fouled him and the second was freekick that led to the second goal. To my mind he got all ball and there was no foul nut Williams talked to him and threatened a yellow card when he had not done either foul. Soon after Mitch was clumsily taken down in what looked like a clear penalty.

If the correct decisions were made the score would be 1 - 1 - but Roy would be off with a red. The only thing worse than Williams reffing was Izzo's setting of the wall. Victory is too good a team to expect points from if the team and officiating are not exactly spot on. Sadly tonight neither has been.

Ah well - can't argue with that.. As dire as last weekend's showing was good I think, but nice to see a goal.

Valeri out is always good, even tho they have enviable depth.

Let's not forget an average Jets team bested them only a few weeks ago and we just made them look like semi pros.

I'll be happy with a gutsy performance and a 2-1 loss, this is our chance to play effective attractive football, not just be the a-league equivalent of that guy at futsal who keeps shooting from halfway because its entertaining.

Got the score right, hardly call that effective tho

With our finishing, it's hard to call ourselves an 'attacking team'. Even harder if we can't even get a shot off. Sure, we finally scored, but I think that was the first show we've had this half. Surely the number of shots all game could be counted on one hand. Not good enough.

If we're 'attacking and entertaining', then if we're losing, we should be losing 3-2 every week. We do not have a goalscorer, and we need to sort this out. And I'm starting to worry that people will be calling for Walmsley's head if we don't - or if waits until too late to sort it out. People on fb already seem to be getting sick of 'the goals are coming'.

I mean, we're playing well, we're playing all over the park, and it's entertaining.....but it's not enough.

Jake shouldn't have been sent off last week, Roy definitely should have this week. That was terrible.
Yep, 100% red card that one. And he's acting like an absolute muppet at the end, carrying on after that clear foul in the corner.

Dunno though, for all of the talk of no scorers Roy hasn't gotten enough service and is on 3 for 5, S i m shockingly on 2 for 2... We should definitely be using our chances better but i think the problems tonight were different.
Part of it was that Victory was simply a better team.. Players with better ability on most of the park... theres no shame in that.
Part of it was that the boys just had a shit day... well i hope that's what it was because it was a pretty poor showing.
Beat in mind as well though... No Ferreira, no McGing and Austin off after first half... Worried now about no Monty next week.

MV were slick at times but for all the commentary ball licking that went on we matched them. The difference - some Gui Finkler magic and a lack of same magic at our end (Sim's goal aside which was a thing of beauty).

To think we're still improving all the time, and have Fabio and McGing coming back in. As well as some eventual signings to replace our recent departures.

Was that Monty's fifth yellow? Losing him for one or any game will be like losing 2 on the field.

I genuinely think that for the most part, we stuck it to them. Held our own in midfield. I think their attack...well, it's too good for any team right now, so of course it showed us up, and we're just not clinical enough to punch through that defence.
Problem is, each losing game will cost us confidence - and playing with flair and attack needs confidence.

A big part of how this unfolded if a big difference in quality - and their quality has just won 3 trophies together. it's hard to hit that last pass against such a great defence, and it took two very high quality moments to score the two goals that they did. otherwise we were at them for the bulk of the game. as I said before if this is a work in progress I'm happy with the progress and where we appear we'll end up

Better than I expected. Both goals were from mistakes from Ascroft playing in an unfamiliar role and Izzo with the wall. Definite red card for Roy, straight out of the Kevin Muscat playbook. We lack penetration in the top third cos we dont have a genuine #10. Plenty of balls into the box but we play with 2 wingers and just the 1 striker, too far apart to deliver numbers in the box when needed. Murnane is their weak spot, SFC exploited him last week, we didnt. Adelson is quick but looked absolutely lost. Izzo, Adelson, Sim, Bingham, Kalik are all squad level, we are 2 - 3 short of a proper 15. Sim looked good when he came on a probably should start despite this. Looking more unlikely that we will make the 6 but thats ok if we keep developing and playing with style, will take a while to rebuild.
Commentators are dicks, when MV foul on the break it is clever to give them time to regroup defensively, CCM do it and it is silly or clumsy.
