Rd 4 Sydney vs Mariners

What, did someone breathe on him?? Take your yellow blinkers off. If a Sydney player did the same thing you'd be screaming from here to high heaven that they cheated to rescue a point.

Meanwhile - shithouse crowd. What do people in Sydney do on a Saturday night ffs??

Nice to see Breeze is still a horrible failure of a referee and a human being as well.

Perez >>>>>>>>>>>>> Carle.
I'll take the pen and the send off thanks very much.

F**k taking the blinkers off :D

Just on the crowd I come across a few people in WS who say they are going to support the Rovers and have stopped going because it is so hard to get to...

On first viewing my immediate reaction was a blatant penalty - no dive - no yellow blinkers needed. On slow motion replay, again it looked a penalty, as Reddy definitely clipped his trailing leg. Did Perez 'milk it' - possibly. But the touch was definitely there. You can tell by the way his leg twists - not something you can do without some external contact.

While Breeze is a muppet, he was on the spot and saw enough to award both the penalty and dismiss Reddy.

In the end, Sydney only saved a point by a dreadful goalkeeping error. They didn't have too much to offer beyond that. Neither did we, so a draw was a fair result.

Can't wait for Friday night!

He was clipped no doubt.....he also milked it for all it's worth.

It was a pen imo but the send off was stupid.

Last defender rule and all that but it is possible to give away a penalty without it being deliberate.

Breeze is a twat.....just happy he was a twat in our favour for a change.

I'm not convinced it was an out and out dive. You can't see the contact as Reddy's body is covering the angle, but that's not to say he didn't make the most of it, which tbh every player in the league would have done exactly the same thing.

The fact is Harper and Cockerill both blew up about it because they're Sydney supporters through and through, and you could tell that through their commentary of the game last night. Bozza and Slater both said pen after the game.

Perez was fantastic when he came on but lets remember its his first match, he came on when everyone else had played 53 minutes and no other coach has had a chance to study his play and work out a counter play. I'm excited about Perez but I'm not so sure he will be the best thing ever in the A-league as some are implying. Happy to be wrong on this one but I think I'll give it a few matches before getting too excited. Just saying.

I've watched the incident at least a dozen times and believe there was minimal contact and Perez made the most of it. Penalty but no red. I can't believe the shit Harper was carrying on with and I'll be interested to see if he changes his tune on Foxsports FC on Tuesday night when he's had a little time to think about it.

Agree completely.

Most definitley a pen, minimal contact but contact none the less. Nothing less than we deserved. Can now see the side that Arnold wants us to be.

If only we had a striker. McBreen looks to be the worst piece of business we have done. Would love to have had Payne for probably less than half the price. We now have 3 strikers who either have not score regularly or can not stay on the pitch for a whole season.

Yeah he seemed to have a lot of space which he won't get every game especially if he starts. Still he seemed a class above every one else on the paddock when he came on - just a tiny bit on the slow side.

Admittedly I've only watched it on the live coverage but I was at Burswood Casino at the time (would have to be a 5m wide screen!) so I didn't have any sound (Swans match got the sound). Therefore, if I've got it wrong I've only got myself to blame LOL.

Next sydney away vs Perth is only 5 weeks away.

bring it on!

Are you in Perth too? If so, have you found a good place to watch football. Would be nice to have a big screen, sound and plenty of football fans around.

Not a pen, nor a send off. With that said, not the worst call ever. Breeze is a piece of shit, but put yourself in his shoes and from the position he was in I can imagine it would've looked pretty poor. 10/10 dive from Perez, jumped at just the perfect time. A tad daft though, with so much scrutiny on this call he'll have refs waiving claims away for the rest of the year.

With that said, refs are paid to get the big calls right and this is yet another example of Breeze getting it wrong. Very, very poor.

Poor game aside. Very very negative tactic for Arnold to play Hutchinson @ 'AM' to mark our DM. That's negative if ever there was such a thing. Aside from Bozanic cutting us open a few times CCM's lack of creativity showed. Perez may change that.

. the consensus seems to be swinging around to a fair penalty, taken for all it could be ... but there was still contact. i could have seen it awarded either way to be honest ... luckily they got it right :D

. the disallowed goal was obviously the wrong call however ... as an unashamed and one-eyed mariners fan, my first thought was payback for a relatively soft award of the penalty

. on balance though sydney got the best of those decisions:
.. hard to argue about the penalty but it will be argued about
.. clearly fair goal disallowed
.. they had their 'keeper replaced for better one :p (feelin' the reddy love  )

. i'd also ask for a bit more leniency on ryan ... i think he is under enough pressure at the moment. the way i saw it the ball bounced right in front of him but was spinning away ... something far more accomplished 'keepers would have struggled with. he kept it out but the defender allowed his opposite to get inside of him to slot the ball away. perhaps rose (i think it was) should bear some of the responsibility too

Pen. But not a red.

Perez is quality. Clearly.

Serious,
Argentinian needs to stop going down if he gets contact in the box?? I'm pretty sure I had you pegged as a realist.
DEFO light contact. DEFO there though. Against SFC away with Reddy being sent????
Hard not to feel like GA hate is seeping through in your perspective. It may well not be. But certainly does sound like it.

Thank god for Perez because he masked a shithouse display tbh.

We were rank in the first half and only started to play Football once we conceeded a goal.

Goalkeeper was Trott revisited...but still showed enough for me to think that he may be decent in a few years time but at 18yo he is a liability (who wouldn't be).

Back 4 were all pretty good.

Midfield was very toothless, especially Hutcho and Griffiths(who was terrible). Bozanic was the best of a bad bunch and WeeMac just scrapped a pass.

Simon was quite good as usual but McBreen was poor (as was the supply to him).
Kwas actually went well when he came on and certainly adds spark when he comes on late (as opposed to when he starts).

Perez looks the bollocks and is the first bloke we have had since Gumpy who attacks the goal and actually makes things happen.

You might want to rethink that statement after the Hearts v Glory game today ;)

Was a poor game until Perez came on but I hope your taking the piss regarding the Hutch call. I'd expect someone of your knowledge to realise that Hutch was sent out as a genuine AM. He has gone OK there in some of the preseaon trials but not up to it last night.

I suspect they will be waving pretty much EVERY appeal for a penalty away for the rest of the season after this weekend. Could well become a defenders dream season now...
