Not sure about his back 4 though. Why would you shift Wilko out to right when he's doing a good job in the centre? I'd like to see Doig back in the team, but he's still third in line behind Wilko and Dutchy in the centre of defence

Why Hutch guys in the first team ... IMO Griffiths should be the defensive mid...

Because GA sees Griffiths more as a CB, but will use him in the centre if needed. Personally I don't feel Hutch was too bad in the first 2 games and there were more than him to blame for last week, plus despite what some fans may think Hutch is highly regarded by the players and coaching staff for his leadership and passion on the park.

IMO I think there's better players in that position in the HAL but for us it's been our problem position since Jedinak left.

. with the uncertainty surrounding weePat ... i was actually expecting hutch & griffiths in the middle, with weePat coming on in the second half

I think Perez is good to go

SMH on Perez

REFLECTED glory? Patricio Perez has it in spades. A first-team debut for Velez Sarsfield at the age of 16. Capped by Argentina at youth level. Close mates with Jonas Gutierrez and Carlos Tevez, whom he still keeps in touch with by email. And a teammate of Lionel Messi and Javier Mascherano when a star-studded Argentina claimed the under-20 world championship in the Netherlands five years ago.

Name dropper? That's a different story. Being associated with some of the world's biggest stars doesn't guarantee anything. Perez knows that as well as anyone. Injuries cruelled his progress at crucial times, and while his peers have gone on to big clubs on even bigger pay packets, he finds himself in Australia at arguably the critical juncture of an unfulfilled career.

Velez Sarsfield, one of Argentina's biggest clubs, let him go to Mexico and Chile on loan before deciding he could leave for good, and last season he found himself playing in the second-tier with little-known Defensa y Justicia. Not exactly the giddy heights.

But opportunity often comes when it's least expected. Midway through the ''Apertura'' in March, newly appointed Central Coast Mariners boss Graham Arnold turned up at the modest 8,000- capacity Estadio Norberto to cast his eye over a player whose reputation as a gifted playmaker had preceded him. He liked what he saw, so he came back again. And again. Then he made his move, but Perez said no. Australia was too far away, and it was too risky for his career.

Arnold wouldn't take no for an answer. The Mariners wanted to make Perez their cornerstone, and the club had ambitions. Perez hesitated, but then relented. After all, it was nice to feel wanted.

''At first I wasn't convinced but when Graham Arnold discussed his plans for the Mariners, I did some research and discovered football was growing very fast in Australia,'' Perez said this week, through his interpreter and agent, Miguel Escalante. ''I decided I liked the possibility of growing as a footballer under Graham, in a totally different football world from that of South America.''

Thus, at the age of 25, the impressively credentialled Perez has committed the next two years of his career to the A-League. Hopefully, after missing the first three weeks of the season with a hamstring strain, he will make his eagerly anticipated debut against Sydney FC tomorrow night.

Arnold is confident Perez will impress. The coach's mission is to wean the Mariners off their long-ball habits and into a groove of short, quick, passing where goals come by design, not accident. To achieve that, he intends to build his new-look team around his Argentine import.

Perez can create and score with both feet. A-League opponents might take one look at his tiny frame and make assumptions but that's their first mistake. Diego Maradona, Marcelo Gallardo, Ariel Ortega, Pablo Aimar, Lionel Messi. The list goes on. Argentina has a fine tradition of stocky No.10s making lumbering defenders look foolish. Arnold is banking on Perez continuing the trend.

''Big defenders are not a problem for me. It's the same in Argentina,'' Perez said. ''I know this is a physical league, but I am ready. Having the confidence of my coach will help me a lot. It's important to have a coach who knows you, who has seen you, and who believes in you. That is why I came.

''Of course, I feel lucky to have played with players like Messi, Tevez and Mascherano in the past. Playing with players of that calibre, it gives you confidence. But I also have my own style of play, and I hope to show that to our supporters this season. Now that I am over my injuries, my target is to play every week, and be part of a team which can play in the finals.

''I have come here to learn, and I believe my best football is yet to come.''

At this rate Hutch will be in goals!

I had to go into the city today anyway so I went first to Ticketek on Park St about 11am and got tickets for the game.

Lady says - Bay 3 is sold out, as are all these others (1-6) except there is still space for a reserved seat in Bay 7! WTF!

So I bought them. Look at PAX - 5486.. if that means anything her statement above means we have sold out over half of the tickets so far!
::)

Anyone have any idea what that's about?

So what's happening in regards to seating? Do we buy tickets for "away supporters" or for bay 3?

Are most people buying their tickets when they get down there?
