ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

The level of bullying Izzo received from fans last year is not acceptable in anyway. Trying to emotionally murder someone just because they didn't perform to your expectations is childish. It was not Izzo's choice to play poorly last season, he would have wanted more than anyone to be performing and be the best keeper in the league but he simply wasn't ready to be playing at A-League level yet, and was thrust forth when Reddy made his unceremonious exit.

Izzo didn't play well last season - but he wasn't allowed to play well. He was signed as a 2nd keeper and the experienced players couldn't handle having to mentor the younger guys and left the club in the lurch. (My interpretation - their take on it may be different). Izzo was thrown into the big time without anyone to help him out and that certainly was not his fault.

When Danny replaced Creepy he had Wilko, Megsy, Heff and Clark.

Maty Ryan had Josh, Wilko , Patrick and the Snapback Kid.

Izzo had Neil, Ascroft, McGing and Storm.

To his credit, when Paul Okon has put some defensive structure in front of him Izzo has responded brilliantly to show why so many good judges think he is one of the brightest goalkeeping prospects in Australia. It must be remembered that Izzo is still only just 22 and was given a much tougher initiation than either Danny or Maty. To be fair to Izzo we need to judge him now when we have developed a decent defence in front of him. If he had debuted with the defence that Danny or Maty had in front of them this wouldn't even be a conversation.

His defence of free kicks would have raised a few eyebrows.

The walk out of Ready was because he didn't like the attack at all costs and forget about defending mantra of Mike and Tony.
He could see he was going to be very very busy. His mate he sent into the shop indicated that he thought Tony didn't have too much of a clue.

I wonder what we, as fans, can do to engage with Izzo and show support? Song? Banner? Just as an appreciation of the grit and maturity he's demonstrated in bettering himself like that - for me, a recognition of where he is now is a bit deeper than a typical recognition of any other well-performing player. Izzo seems to still feel like the past makes the current support mean less; I can't speak for others on here, but the past makes his current performance mean more to me.

And from there if he truly does hold a grudge, then so be it. We can do no more than try to show support.
Banner for mine. If as PP stated he didn't respond to their song, a public display of a banner might.
A banner, which you would hope gets shown on TV, allows those in his inter sanctum and his family know that he has won over those that doubted.
He may not respond but it allows those older wiser people in his corner to and hopefully they might be able to play a part in defusing any pepped up resentment.
Capn Gus Bloodbeard touched on it. We are the community club. It's what makes our club so special and has played a part in giving a sense of belonging to the Central Coast to my family as neither my wife and I were bought up here.
And one of ours is hurting. I feel he needs a big dose of Central Coast community spirit to say, 'Hey, you belong here' just as many locals have done to mine in the 17 years we have been here.

Our game was the highest rating of the round at 82,000 only 3000 behind the Melbourne derby the previous week!
Our average Fox ratings are up 11% from 52k to 58k this year. Our games are rating better than Wellington and Newcastle and just behind Perth.

The league's ratings are up more - 15% - driven by City and Sydney both being up 27%, Brisbane being up 21% and Victory being up 16%.

Imagine if we had some new clubs to spice things up! :D
