Base of the diamond, I think due to better distribution, it has to be Hutch... so my big call is to give Monty a trial alongside Trent in the middle of defence.
Monty is a wonderful defender and I just can't see my way to leaving him out of the starting 11. Great attitude, reads the game well, with the experience and head we might be missing at the back in Dutchys absence. Might need aerial support from both strikers on set pieces though.

Once again FP I find myself agreeing with you. I didn't see this call coming but the more I think about the more I like it.

Yeah I think this very much also. I think the upside is we do have a good squad, and I like Moss and agree, these are not problems which started occurring when he took over,
they were pre existing and GA would have had to solve it too.

Flores proving to be a 60 minute player is a concern I think, but he will obviously flourish under less pressure. At the moment he is easy to contain and has little opportunity to play his killer balls.

I agree with Ancient, in most regards, though I also think Storm is superior to Pedj, he just needs a bit more confidence and to take full license like Pedj always did.

We do need to look to skip past opposing teams when they are pressing hard, and I saw plenty of this last game, but they are pressing in two and threes, where this is all but impossible, so it's how we move between the lines and distribute that has to change while under pressure and yes the quality and speed of our passs and touches must be excellent (we miss Ollie in this regard also who was not on your > list Ancient) I concur with having a second striker - so playing direct is not so definitively just giving the ball away. Our 4231 looks good when a team sits off us. Our 442 when we changed early in the season when chasing a game (I forget which) looked a lot more positive and allowed us to go direct when under pressure. From, what I'm seeing, I think two DM's are wasted on us at present because we are getting into defensive trouble when we have the ball and don;t have enough ball carriers to play out. So we lose possession when our DM's and FB's are out of position, and we all know Hutch can't chase back effectively.

So personally I'd like to See Duke alongside Mcbreen. Simon to sub on.

Flores in behind. Caceres to sub on.

Weemac right mid. Where he has been at his most scintillating best.

Fitzgerald/Sterj left.

I'd be happy to see this

Back to conceding off turnovers. Thought we had just started to fix those mistakes & the back was looking solid. Was it the commentator curse, we had only conceded a two goals in 400m or something like that under Mossy, playing our bunnies 9 in a row with the coach in a scrap with the media.

but the story of our season more losses in personal with McGlinchy all but gone. The frustration seemed to boil over sure they might have felt like Storm was fouled but you don't react they way they did unless you are already frustrated.

McBreen should have been locked out of the change rooms at half time as punishment. Was his head not in the game like the rest of them.

I reckon they lost the game between the ears.

Reddy - You are the goal keeper - You are aloud to use your hands. The ball was a through ball from Adelaide so Pick it up - Why would you want a goal kick over free distribution from in your box? Then if you are going to play that way you need to actually put you back into the player & shield the ball don't run with it.

When do we play SFC again?

Duke upfront - Ibini to the right Mcbreen to the left.

Arnie - what the F**K why a loan? Surely the Japs have the cash to take McGlinchy off us now. What's this shop window crap.

Was it just as simple as being the favourites that scared us?

What has fitzy done to Mossy - Doesn't even make the match day squads. In fairness though Sterj has been playing great. Might need a calm old head to start the game just to take control. Hutch seems to give away silly free kicks & give the ref a gobful when we frustrated. Might need a cooler head to say move on, chin up & keep playing together.

Should we bench Flores & bring him on when the defence is tiring?

Mcbreen over Flores
Duke over McBreen
Sterj over Duke

Sub on Simon & Flores for who ever needs it

My read of this game was that Adelaide caught us off guard because we thought they were going to play their usual Tiki Taka and instead they played more counter attack. All there goals were on the counter. This is also shown the the possession stats 55/45% our way. Last time we played them in round 3 we only had 34% possesion to their 66% and we won. Gombau changed something and broke his hard stance on their style this weekend. I think he finally got sick of the media bashing him for a win.

I only watched the first 10 minutes and had recorded the rest which I had planned on watching after my sons music concert thingy...
I was quite hopeful of a good performance based on the opening 10, we got in behind a few times, got a few corners going our way, took a few shots on goal. It wasn't looking so bad.
I am now in 2 minds as to wether I should watch the remainder of the game and see how we fell apart or if it will all be too painful.

Are we confident at least off putting away Wellington on Thursday??

Reddy should of/could of picked the ball up but I wonder if he felt that as Weemac (I think it was) had had the ball called out by the same official in the 1st half when there were players around him and on the other side of the goals he thought well if I shield the ball out the official will call it out as he did before. The official had a clearer view as there was only Reddy and the attacker to obstruct his view. And if memory serves me correctly the ball on replay showed "out" by as much as this one was. Just a thought but having said that Reddy is a far better keeper than Pasfield, he controls his area better, distributes better, so should still play on Thursday.

I think I'm in the minority but I really didn't think we were that bad. We've played a lot worse in the past to eke out nil all draws or 1 nil wins. Adelaide were just a little bit harder at the ball which you would expect after all the drama the day before, coming off no wins in seven? games and playing at home. A win on thursday and we are back up to fourth within touching distance of second.

Who bloody knows, but I reckon we will. Come off a battering and come good and give out a battering. If we win against Welly then beat Westies, we'll be sitting pretty at second on the ladder. This could be a turning point.

You might be, but for the greater part, I'm actually with you... I suppose that goes to show what I know about football, but still ;)
Looking at it realistically, there are always going to be obvious chances that are missed, but if you look at the really obvious ones that would normally be put away, even by us, this would've at least been a tie... And here I'm talking about the ones that are entirely down to poor play on our behalf, not the ones where the goalie had an extraordinary save or their defenders did great work... It's been some days now, but off the top of my head, I think there's two to Macca, Two (?) to Matty and then that bl**dy bad luck for Mile... I think WeeMac missed a sitter as well and on it goes, so at this point, in normal terms, if we'd missed 50% of the sitters, we're still in the game.
So I think, before anyone get carried away by how great Adelaide were and how we fell apart, I think it's worth bearing in mind that bad games happen to every team and our boys have never been great at actually hitting the target.

On Reddy, I actually didn't think he had too bad a game either, except for that one brain snap - I have to admit, I feel more comfortable with him in goal than I do Pasfield... Tbf Pasfield has a history of looking shaky, going back two years and he's gotten a lot better, but it's hard to shake.

Seip though... Christ! Hot then cold... I actually thought he did alright in Roux's place a couple of weeks back, I know I'm in the minority there as well, but I thought he seemed a lot happier and a lot more comfortable, being allowed to make the occasional run forward... No doubt he was also good in defense against Sydney, but I don't see much justification for replacing Griff2 with him... I wouldn't want to place the defeat at his feet, I don't think that'd be fair, but I can't help wonder if the situation wouldn't have been different with Griff2 in there in Adelaide... It was clear that Seip wasn't at his best I thought.

EDIT: Oh and yes, if anything I think perhaps we've shown more hope and composure since Mossie took over, which is a positive.
