ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

I think I remember one time back in the glory days of the F3 Derby when both sides had pretty decent crews and we were singing about an old 'favourite' for the scum. Someone from the club came running over from the Western Stand to ask us to stop because it was coming over on the telly very clearly and so lounge rooms all over the country were getting to hear The Worst Word In The World at considerable volume.

Away support rules:
No prawn sandwiches
You must join the boys and girls and support the boys as best as you can as every voice counts together.

Also be careful of what you call the active support coach because your young girl may very well grow up to be one, wether you like it or not

That would be the Joel Griffiths song I think

Bit late but I thought that our back 4 looked a lot more compact and efficient.
WSW goal was after our poor set piece, McGing caught out in the top third, Galloway's failure to intercept the long ball.
Good to see Izzo regaining some confidence and form.
Whist both teams had chances, WSW should have put us out of the game before we scored. Their chances (Jumpei, Nicholls) could have been stopped if we had better screening in front of the back 4 - perhaps Monty was missed?
Is Galloway injured? He seemed to limp off when replaced.

Been watching a recording of the game and the amount of times Neil got skinned and Pain saved his arse. At this current moment in time he is really not A-League quality, plus all of our attacking momementeum dries up as soon as the ball is played to him because he waits for the ball every time. It's truly disheartening hope he improves but at the moment McDonald deserves his bench spot more.

He's suffered as well in possession because our opposition are targeting him with their press. The 7 sits off him and the 9 sits inside him so when he gets the ball they close the space in front and inside to force an error, and they're either getting throw ins or turnovers more than they should be able to. He's short on the confidence to be able to play out of trouble. He really needs Izzo and McGing to be better at offering a bail-out option directly behind.

I noticed when they tried to box galloway in a few times he took a nice first touch out of trouble and released early. Pretty basic stuff but neil is very down on confidence at the moment so he is getting exposed all the time.

Agree but his options are limited as well.
There is a massive hole filled with defenders on the inside where he'd like to pass, his only option is pain and has limited space to work in. The midfield needs to offer him an option as well.
Galloway looked a lot better.

I think Galloway cramped after not playing for a long time more than being hurt

. ok i know i am slow, but i thought i would add my two cents worth before heading into our next game:
  • galloway had a nervous start to the game but soon came into his own
  • neil had a shocking start when he came on which i'm sure didn't instill that much confidence in those around him (or the supporters)
  • if izzo hadn't have played for us last year he probably would have received more plaudits. well done to the lad - i hope he continues to improve ... for our sake as well as his
  • regarding their goal - it was a good example of a lack in intensity. although galloway didn't quite get enough on the ball coming in over his shoulder he was not really responsible for the goal - we hit a corner long, mcging (i think it was) failed to retain the ball and/or pressure to get it back or slow the play; same could be said for the the next player involved (tavares maybe?) and the wanderers were away on a break
  • any one of a number of little things and they don't get the same opportunity
  • regarding the team - it is interesting that we seem to be getting better without anybody being a stand-out (good or bad) ... this is what we need to get back to the side we once were. then we can start adding a few outstanding performances from individuals to really improve our results
  • the general improvement in play as a team helps as you need fewer 'covering plays' or making up for the errors of others. these have been so prevalent in the last couple of seasons that we keep getting pulled out of position and look bloody awful
. and for a touch of reality:
  • i don't normally award player ratings (because my brain doesn't work that way) but i feel the need on this occasion
  • points need to be awarded to nicholls (who should have had a hat-trick) and redmayne (who from what i have read has been in consistent form). the result would have been much different without the involvement of those two
  • huge cudos for roy's tenacity and for dingle being on the spot (but i did remark at the time, it was the first time i had really noticed him all match)

But at least you noticed him for the right reasons. I liked the way he didn't get excited and overdo it.
