Oh and i agree no pen. Hits shoulder as arm is back by his side or behind his back. Was 100 a pen until contact.

We also didn’t deserve to bailed out by that

The ref said it hit the arm.

Im not looking for a bail out. I just don't understand how that's not a pen?

Canga checks his run back. Because he does that the ball take a glance off a part of the body classified as illegal. If it doesn't touch the arm there is am extremely high chance of a goal.

Besides was the VAR camera in a better sighing position than the ref? I'd say no.

We are unbeaten in the league after 3 games, remember we lost the first 4 last season. Im not hitting the panic button yet.
Also Mariners manager confirms to COAST FM 963 Miguel Di Pizio had knee surgery and will be out for an extended period of time.

Just have to remember that last year we went 0 and 4. We left it until the last game to win the premiership. Starting the season with 3 points definitely would have helped last year.

With that being said, holy f**king shit we need a good striker!

I didn't hear what the ref said after he had looked at his TV screen, but from watching the reply on the big screen I assumed the Penalty would be reversed as the ball hit the arm at the level of the armpit.
The rule for the past couple of seasons has been the ball must hit the arm below the armpit level to be a Hand Ball.
Did the ball hit at or below that level? If it took that long to decide it must have been very close indeed - and the correct call is then No Penalty.
That being the case the Ref was correct in overturning his initial decision.
Incidentally, I thought he did a very good job tonight - there were some 50/50 calls and they went both ways.

He turned it over because the ball was in a natural position when it hit his arm.

Before the season started the clubs were told that that was only part of the interpretation. i.e. if the the ball came from close by a natural position would mean no hand ball. The ball came from 7-8 meters away. According to what I heard of the pre season interpretations given to all the clubs then the penalty should have stood.

Essentially we have had a win and two losses, points wise. I get that still puts us ahead of last season but it’s dire. We just seem incredibly thin in talent and the goals.. where are they? It’s not even just that we are lacking a striker, we are lacking a creator, a play maker, cohesion. I think our defence has been better but if Tapp’s out.. that’s super dire.
I’m not seeing us getting our shit together, I see us running on empty like we did back in the spoon days. Talented players going elsewhere while we run on vapours.
I would love to be optimistic but geez. Not feeling it 😔

Starting at the front.
Kuol and Brandtman are not starting players, both could be useful off the bench at the 60min mark. Brandman may be able to develop. In th e past Kuol showed promise after a couple of games and went to Germany for good dollars. Good luck to him, but he is not the messiah nor a striker.
Harry can be good in defence and gets into poison extremely well but passes to the opposition too often.
McCalmont almost had me believing Wombat's last appraisal of him. Unfortunately it only lasted for 15minutes. Like Harry too many loose passes. There seems to be a footballer in there but does not have the vision Nizzy had in a similar position.
Dokka is worth his starting spot.
We can only hope Tappy is not to serious. He is our most valuable asset.
Tonight Kaltak reminded me of Kwassy. Too much time to think and the decision making becomes poor. I suspect the responsibility of captaincy is affecting his play. Unfortunately there does not seem to be anyone else to take the role.
Paul and Hetherington looked ok which is pleasing but there was not a great deal of pressure.
Mauragis shows some promise but needs to get his head up and look for support rather than trying to do it all himself.
Sasha looked good, one of the few positives.

Hopefully it will be a decent rebuilding season with the odd good performance. If tonight's performance is an indication it is the best we can hope for.

People are kidding themselves if they think this team looks like when it clicks it’s going to win silverware this season. So the comparison to last seasons start is very misleading.

I’d bench Kuol and give the young guys a go, Kuol is as good as he is going to get and it’s not good enough. Wouldn’t be concerned if he moved on in Jan.

Players like Brandtman in particular need a full season which he will probably get but in last seasons team he wouldn’t get much time at all. I feel the defence isn’t the concern any more and our attack is diabolical at the moment. To have all the possession and only get away 8 shots is spooner material. One goal in three games is massive cause for concern. Better teams will score against us and we can’t score so there will be plenty of defeats this season.

Crowd leaving the game tonight there was a lot of mumbles about how poor that showing was. Couldn’t score against a team that has shipped 8 goals in two games. Should have been an easy win so two point dropped for certain.

Perth are shit and they look like a team with about 2 players that are bothered. It's a disgrace we didn't score against such dross. But we don't shoot and we don't cross, the whole fkin crowd knows what to do why don't the players? Have they been told not to cross??!!

Steele had an appalling game and should not have lasted beyond Half time.

Paull didn't make a howler which means he improved. But he receives the ball and the game stops while he stands still with it for 30 seconds before he 9 times out of 10 passes it to Kaltak.

Alfie is a class above and would be performing to a much higher level were the rest of the team to his standard. Constantly in motion and wasted having to go fetch the ball from defence.

We missed 2 absolute sitters.

It's absolutely clear we have a problem scoring goals. The remedy for that is 5 at the back.

5 at the back playing Okon ball. We were very poor tonight for most of the game. With a squad this inexperienced and light on strike power, having Sains, Miggsy and the pie man out injured is devastating.

Thank f**k the keeper is shaping up to be a very good prospect.

I don't lay any blame on Jacko, not really on the boys either, everyone is giving great effort. We just don't have the budget.

We'll need a proper striker in January or we accept we'll be lucky to make the 6.

I agree Steele was poor, quite a few times he had the ball looking to move forward but took way too much time and even stopped looking for a play. That’s NPL level.

Paull was very serviceable and I like that he occasionally makes a run. Herrington also did quite well and it will be good for him to get more time with Tapp looking injured. Big Dyl did ok however there is always at least one heart in the mouth moment. Developing well though.

Doka a waste out of position. Best game for Alfie but isn’t getting much support from Steele. Not sure we can start Eames yet and not really any other options so we are stuck with this midfield.

literally at the point where we could just start everybody who gives a shit and wants to give it a crack and see what happens. We aren’t going anywhere with this team.
We can start with Kuz.

Just read what I posted earlier.
I should dump it for being far too positive.
It will be interesting to see if Paul and Hetherington can cope with Wellington's attack next week. If our defence cannot keep a clean sheet, we lose. It is clear we are unable to score.
