Few chill pills needed. Our squad has been gutted and the replacements are not as good as the players who have left.
We also have injuries to 3 players who would have started yesterday (Sains, Theo and MDP) in addition, Tappy went off early.
Perth were well organised and I thought it was a pretty good away performance from them.
The fact we don't have a quality striker isn't news. Kuol has been honking since he got here and Edmo is Kwasi like at best.
Rebuilding and top 6 at best I reckon.

At the moment we only have one player who is a real goal threat in Doka and he is playing out of position. Last year we had so many threats it wasn’t essy to mark all of them. Kuol by himself is just a player who chase’s the ball and gives away fouls and is easily contained along with his poor control, he is barely a threat. Other than Kuz no one else really looked like even having a shot. As I said 67% possession against the poorest defensive team in the comp and only getting away 8 shots is criminal. It should have been over 15. It’s been a while since one of our home games has been labeled a very boring game. I didn’t enjoy it at all. We are not going to click for some time if at all this season. It’s a rebuild and the sooner we acknowledge that fact the easier it’s going to be being a fan this season. The Nix will do us next week, ACL doesn’t even come into discussion anymore so chalk that down as a loss.
He's had the Matty bites yer legs training, needs a finisher to train him.

We won’t make top 6 if we can’t score goals. End of.

The whining was doing my head in and Forum Phoenix straight up left CCMFans due to it.

It is very similar now. Jacko is very astute and if no one steps up he will twig and even recruit.

Too early to fret.
I am very sorry to hear that about FP. He was the most knowledgable contributor on this site. He was also a regular on the original site under a different name. Hopefully we will see him rise again from the ashes.
I went very close to following a similar path to him, not so much because of the whining, but because of the aggressive knocking of players who had not found their feet.

You can say that we are in a similar position now, however this year is a much bigger rebuild than previously. Add to that our current Academy players are younger and do not have the experience that last year's ones had it is going to be a much tougher road.

I think our aim should be to make the 6 and if we do that will be cause for celebration this year.

Only player I’m knocking at the moment is Kuol. He has had plenty of time and really needs to step up this season. It’s infuriating to see him a foot behind good crosses as that shows he has no instinct or anticipation. Without that you are not a striker. Bench and give Duarte the time to see how he goes as I don’t see Kuol improving beyond what he is now. At least Edmo can create more opportunities like against Adelaide. Kuol also struggles with distribution. Like I said if he left in January I wouldn’t be concerned at all.

Of the other players I’m more than happy to wait and see how they go and that includes Vitor. I just don’t like the comparison to last season as I think it’s off the mark. I believe Jacko will get the best out of his team however that best is going to be lower than we have experienced the last two seasons.

I’m excited to see how Diesel goes now he will get more minutes. Against the Nix will be interesting as they have more speed down the flanks than Perth.

I watched Perth last week and their best attack came from Faisal, Kuz did a great job and kept him quiet. Kuz starting and his performance was the highlight of yesterdays game. Brandtman is going to require a lot of patience and I was a bit frustrated with him and his constant flick ons which rarely came off.

I think Kuol needs a reminder that he isn't guaranteed game time every week. Let him ride the bench for a week, see if that makes him hungrier for the ball.

All this ragging on Kuol, we are not playing him to his strengths. He previously had great success coming on at 60 mins to terrorize a tired opposition with explosive energy. We're playing him in the starting 11 and expecting him to go the distance. I agree he's not reading the game well or anticipating where the ball will be but I don't think anyone can fault his effort.

With all that said and done if you're a CB he's your nightmare. The pressure and unpredictability he can apply does cause mistakes.

So you are saying he will never be a starting striker??? Expensive super sub. I have no doubt he is on a good wage as well as us paying a fee which is very unusual. He has not been worth it. Experiment has not succeeded so time to move on. Anyone know how much of his contract is left?

I also don’t agree he terrorises CB’s, the referees for some reason do not like his lunges into CB’s as displayed last night. He even coped an elbow to the head and got nothing from the clown refereeing. Once the CB’s work out his lunges he is totally ineffective and lets off the pressure he is trying to apply. Maybe if he also scored more than 10 a season that might be more worrying for them. His poor control also gives the CB’s better odds against him as he isn’t far off an elephant foot touch.

Where are the goals to come from, we bemoaned, and 4 losses into the season the wailing got loud and the gnashing of teeth became fraying.
I regularly urged patience as the play was there but just not 100% yet. The whining was doing my head in and Forum Phoenix straight up left CCMFans due to it.
Would've been the same for me this year if I saw the word 'fraud' one more time. And tasty egg if he becomes part of the answer.

Taggart on last nights performance would struggle to make our NPL side…
3 or 4 times he was unmarked in our 18 yard box. They just couldn't get it to him.

He drops to get balls to feet and laid off several touches that our strikers can't/won't. His press nearly caught kaltak and DPC out a few times.

Streets ahead of any attacker in our program. Probably lucky he opted to shoot a few times towards the end (out of frustration no doubt) rather than pass square.

Wow. A bit of bad form and the pitchforks come out.

Who are you going to start in his place with our current injuries and squad depth?

I'm confident we'll make top 6 (unless Jacko moves on). I'll happily trust his experience with each player and fitting them to an effective system again.
Once anywhere in the six, the testing of our game against the best in Asia (even a steep 0-8 learning curve) will make us a definite danger to anyone in the play-offs.

Maybe we could pinch him in Jan...

I’m sorry mate, but what are his strengths right now? Pressing defenders?

He’s a tall, relatively strong striker. Best attributes are physical. We get plenty of balls into the box, he simply does NOT attack them. Doesn’t win headers, can’t link play with touches. One of our better attacks yesterday where the cross went far post and was then hit first time back across the 6 yard. He was a good 8yards off the pace. That should be his bread and f**king butter but he was absolutely nowhere to be seen to slide tap it in. He then preceded to defend a cross FOR glory by wiping out Bailey who was coming onto the cross.

His perceived strengths, we do play to them. Balls in behind, crosses into the box. He ain’t effective. He ain’t doing his job right now. He should have improved as a footballer by this point in his career. The commentary said it perfectly and I hate Robbie Thompson whoever it is, he basically said Kuol wastes his energy pressing so much he can’t be effective in attack. Mcbreen (who would actually know) agreed. He’s a f**king striker, not a CB playing upfront.

I fully understand we don’t have the squad strength right now so I’m trying not to be too critical, but Alou has been so f**king disappointing and infuriating with what he’s produced, combined with this obscene cockiness. Eddy isn’t much better of a goal threat right now either but at very least he’s shown signs of being the guy to lead the line. Good touches in link play, always great movement and usually smart use of the ball. Case in point his play that led to last weekends equaliser.

Rich’s biggest mistake whilst here was rubber stamping our only ever paid transfer fee to bring Alou Kuol back here. It’s not Sunday league, effort plays to press a defender shouldn’t be celebrated as goals.

Sorry for the rant, but f**k me.

Kaltak can't even lead his own back line. He doesn't direct the defeànder's at all, doesn't look out for loose players and keep the gaps covered. If he can't lead 3 players, he can't lead 11.

However, I can't see anybody else for the rule.

For the back line, there is a real chance for Tapp to step up and take the lead role Kaltak is supposed to be playing.

Hopefully Paull can put in more strong performances so Kaltak can start having to fight for his spot
