Most pathetic derby thread ever. :redcard:

We screwed the Jest good...effing awesome...just what Mariners dreams are made of :pirashoot: :eek:verhead:

Somehow, the thread has been hijacked by a pissing contest about the new Jest strip. Who gives a flying f**k about their strip when so much more happened at the game which is in fact what this thread is about. Besides, there's a separate thread for the pissing contest.

Bloody hell, we just sent them home crying outside the club in a chanting sea of yellow...it was beautiful to watch almost brings a tear to my eye :eek:verhead:

No pissing contest in this thread. Just differences of opinion over club alliances and intent. Nothing wrong in that. I don't agree with scottmac, but he's most welcome to have a differing view.

other than that, well said! A dream result!

One of the reasons I love this forum is the many knowledgable opinions found here and the ability to have a bit of banter back and forth without it denigrating into a slanging match (most of the time ;) )

Too cold and wet to give a proper opinion the other night.

My observations....active support was brilliant....even leagues side stand were brilliant.

Ryan made a world class save but why does he keep dropping the ball???

Our finishing was appalling and we should have been 3.0 up at half time.

Why is Rose the only player in the squad capable of finding a team mate in the box...rather than spunking the ball 20 yrds over the head of a team-mate like everyone else!

Amini and Perez can play on the park at same time. Amini was brilliant.

Griffiths is WAY superior to Hutch but hutch is decent cover in this situation.

Dutchy is a legend....gave the ball away like a muppet and nearly cost us a goal....realises his mistakes and single handlely stops the Scum from scoring 3 or 4 times in 2 second period. I love to see a player rectify their mistakes like that. Typifies why he has been our player of the season.

McBreen is a very intelligent player outside of the box but a muppet in 6yd box.

We can and will beat Brisbane if everyone fires up.

I don't understand why nobody wanted to take a shot! It looked like every time they got near goal they tried to walk it into the net, the ball would get stuck under their feet, and then because they were so slow there would be a line of defenders in the way.

We had enough chances to win 2 games but to beat the Jets on the death was fantastic.

Too many times we`ve been on the the other side of the ledger. The only unfortunate thing about it was that Wellington had already qualified thus denying us the opportunity to knock the Jets out of the finals.

However, our attack seems to have become very one sided of late. The only time we look consistently dangerous is when Rose attacks the by-line & cuts it back for the strikers.

Pedj & the Glinch don`t seem to make those runs. They tend to cross the ball from out wide & are becoming very predictable & easy to defend against.I hope we can overcome this for the finals.

Topor-Stanley was outstanding for the Jets but his job was made easy by Macbreen returning to his usual poor form.

To finish second in such a strong competition is an acheivement in itself.

Congratulations to all the players, coaches & staff.
You`ve made us proud to be COASTIES again :eek:verhead:

I agree ADZ. I think they should have peppered Kennedy in those kind of conditions.
But our general interplay was again very good.

Style I'm not too worried, as I think Pedj and the Glinch - effectively being our right side of attack - both had off days by their impressive standards. But we still created some clear cut chances aerially as well as a through ball to one on one... and many threatening runs almost finding our way right through. (Speaking of the Glinch, the Jets new LB - he's decent I think - had been studying Glinch I'd say and Glinch needs to rewatch that game and look at what was going on there

Anyhow, Rose however does cut the ball back better than most. His pace gives him more room/time, but he's real quality and I think for mine actually edging Dutchy for player of the season. More goals, more assists, and I don't recall him ever making a mistake that cost us a goal? But Dutchy has just been so immense that's it's actually a real injustice trying to spilt either of them in my opinion. And to be fair, every starting 11 player has had a great season. :eek:verhead:

Can someone make Saturday come already?? :headbutt:

Just watched (omg, I know right??) some highlights.

Someone (Adz, I think) mentioned that we were afraid to take a shot. Could not agree more.... "Arsenal-itis" some might call it. Those of us familiar with FIFA11 would want to scream out "B BUTTON"..... or Circle button, for you Sony affiliated sorts.

Tiki-taka is all well and good, but you've got to finish it off.

Even our winning goal was walked in! Newcastle had no shots that I can remember in the first half but hit about four from distance in the second, one of which had Ryan in all sorts of difficulty. In those conditions we should have shot more too - Bojic free on the right comes to mind. And on Ryan - he followed the soap juggling with the save of the season, and, after collecting a shot from Petrovski threw the ball, against the wind and rain, beyond half way to the feet of out player on the left. Brilliant.

I do think Topor would not have looked quite so composed if Matty had played...

Rose is my player of the season but if you want a mistake that cost a goal - Brisbane 1-5 - misjudges the speed of Barbarouses on the right and lunges in, Barbaroouses skips away and Brisbane score (Nicholls ?). There's another one in the first half of the season where he passed the ball out of defence to the opposition and they scored but I can't recall who it was - but on the other side of the ledger:Seven assists and three goals and speed to burn.

But yes, very proud of this team, some great football and great coaching and lots of good things to remember. :eek:verhead:
