Travis looked good on the ball but obviously tried a bit too hard to change the game around.

Mrdja was pretty good, not as good as recently but had some good chances and did well to set up that goal after being the player who laid it off for Porter.

Simon stopped falling over in the 2nd half after the defenders gave up marking him.

It's a mistake to be playing Clark atm, especially at LB. We really should be blooding youngsters.

Again Simon had a poor game, the season is over so lets forget about building his confidence and play Brady Smith, who by all accounts played great in yoof.

Trav did everything we have been missing, running at the defense, taking shots and looking hungry. He really is the best player in the squad.

Derby? These donkeys have given it up mate. The care factor in the first half was well in the negative. In the 2nd, they came out at least looking for a fight, and found they werent good enough.

Only Hutch, Pedj and Porter look like they have a clue how to play football.

Only value this game can offer us now is to give a yoof player some time on the park.

Bojic is just a headless chook.

Danny was good as was Wilko.  Travis was a good and actually knows how to play Football.
Kwassie and Mrdja did ok.

Basically we are a shambles.  Lawrie has to go!

Weemac and Mrdja needed to finish two good chances - but obviously we lost that game in two shocking defensive blunders. I understand and feel the pain... and agree change is clearly needed... but I cannot really see how these blunders are Lawries fault. Doig's was just horrendous, who'd have thunk... Clarke going to ground was poor but also to be fair he was unlucky, it was the defense or lack there of on Mc Breens run that truly was the killer lapse. Take out those two massive blunders and we should have gone on to win that.

As it was. Shocking day at the office.

Was very happy to see Travis on. Looked much better than last week.
Disagree on Porter though - thought he played quite well.
Simon on the other hand... sigh... better second half to be fair... but two simple crosses that could very well have resulted in goals simply butchered... he simply has to be able to do better. Just doesn't look like there is enough to his game imo.

Bottom line for next season, regardless of Mcbreen coming - we clearly need another quality striker or two. We'd have been a very different side this year if this had been able to be addressed imo.

So I'm with whoever said blood Brady Smith or even Bernie... nothing to lose unless its feared it could damage confidence or some such. I think Bernie has a lot of skills in his bag, and though would likely struggle for a season playing at HAL level coming of the bench next season, but by the year after he probably could be something quite special.

Personally I really like the idea of next year being a youthful Mariners... New look, new approach... hopefully new edge...  with Mustafa, Panni, Mallia, Bernie, Sherlock and Lewis all in the senior squad.

Lot of quality there - but cost effective - allowing cap for some solid replacements for Boogs, Heff, Elrich, Mccallister, Clarke... then get a world class Fowler style marquee to lead, guide and inspire them... and we could truly build for the future and probably go far.

Would also make sense of our considerable focus on the CEO and presumably our direction as a club I think.

As to membership renewal.

We could be playing under Arnold out with the Griffiths brothers and Culina as marqeee  and i'd still be coughing up my dough...

Might be a little less Mr positive though than I am now.

I'm not saying we don't need change. I think we do and have put forward my thoughts on perhaps how to proceed...  But I still hold a lot of respect for Lawrie and our foundation players and trust they are wise enough to see the need for change without getting too emotional and whiny.

I'll leave that shit to the Gold Coast.

Personally I really like the idea of next year being a youthful Mariners... New look, new approach... hopefully new edge...  with Mustafa, Panni, Mallia, Bernie, Sherlock and Lewis all in the senior squad.

I'd happily accept a season finishing in the lower half if we were building a team based on youth.

In a league where we don't even need to worry about relegation there's no excuse not to imo.

As for the derby next week........possibly the lowest derby crowd ?

And possibly more scum in attendance than us ?

Know a few people who were not at last game, but wouldn't miss this one...
