Law 14 - the penalty kick


Introduction


A penalty kick is awarded against a team that commits one of the ten offences for which a direct free kick is awarded, inside its own penalty area and while the ball is in play.

A goal may be scored directly from a penalty kick.

Additional time is allowed for a penalty kick to be taken at the end of each half or at the end of periods of extra time.

As soon as the FREE KICK was given & saw Finkler line up I was worried but come on guys where was the effort. It was if he doesn't score Reddy will take care of it type stuff.

In basketball it is called blocking out for the rebound. No Victory player was picked up when the free kick was in the air; the Mariners waited for the rebound to fall. If it fell their way they could clear, if it didn't...lazy, poor defending. Defending is 90% mental discipline; the concentration wasn't there and it was a crucial moment in the game.

Just watched reply. Not good viewing. We played good for 20mins. Can't believe how much I missed or what ever but wasn't any where near as good as I thought we were.
Apologies to storm it was Rosey who was beat near post by troisi.

Anyone see the hulk on santo Sam and ed. they took the piss but it was funny

Also no comments about the assult on the sauce bottle. Did any one see it. When they let everyone on the field the victory fans went nuts and while having photos in front of the sauce bottle a guy pulled out these massive tong looking things with spiked ends and stabbed the sauce bottle repeatedly until it popped. Then security chased him and he ran like a bitch. His mates left him high and dry. So if we don't get to go back on the ground after the game u can blame him. It was awesome to get on the field

The guy was arrested and charged by police - its been posted on Brisbane Water LAC facebook site. If it was a victory fan - does this breach their fan behaviour requirements ? and therefore should they be docked three points ?

Melbourne Victory has suffered a huge blow with defender Adrian Leijer set to be out for up to a month after scans revealed numerous facial fractures.

Leijer was injured in Saturday's win over Central Coast Mariners, with a trip to a specialist in Melbourne on Tuesday morning revealing he has sustained a fractured eye-socket, a fractured cheekbone and a fracture to his nose.

The experienced defender suffered a blow to the face in the 94th minute in Gosford, just minutes after coming on as a substitute.
