The lights guy was so disheartened he just left in a daze.

One of my mates wanted to leave after 80 mins as he said he couldn't watch anymore of this shite. I gave him a part time supporter spray and he stayed until 90 min when he just shook his head and said I can't take anymore and fled....and left us to endure another 5 minutes of failure.
Maybe the groundsman felt the same and simply stormed out.

I didn`t see the game due to prior commitments, so thanks to everyone for the reprts especially yours Roy.

Jaundice, just a minor point (I know i`m being picky) but we get a "free kick" not a penalty 20-30m out. Sorry about that!

Yeah that shits me.

Muppets calling a free kick a penalty.

One of my best mates and a reasonable player says it all the time.

Really annoying.

Personally I think we have a better strike force than our midfield, but our system with 2 DM"s does not reflect this reality.
We would be a lot harder to contain with Simon and Duke on, and they are both 90 minute players if given the chance.

That said, it seems quite a few people on here don't appreciate that playing consistent forward balls, requires good forward passing options, or you are simply giving the ball away. And with no true number 10 on the field, a lone striker and Mile's (who I like) lack of mobility, we are finding it very difficult. Hutch does actually look forwards, but what he won't do is play it forwards unless he's sure of the option. Could he be more adventurous sometimes? I think so, but he's a DM, not an AM. His first priorities are to help contain the other team, retain possession and control rhythm. He usually does this well, but he's now become the fall guy for our attack not working. It's a fallacy, and it's one consistent with fans and DM's the word over.

Larger culprits in our lack of penetration this week were that we are too one dimensional with Matty as lone striker. We need a number 10. Fitz was out of sorts and Storm was surprisingly more backwards about being forwards this week, so we looked unusually unbalanced in our wing play too.

But credit where it's due, shit ref aside, in my opinion our main undoing was by and large due to Tommy and Troisi. Both class players that we found all but impossible to close down. They gave Victory the cohesion, consistent threat, and time to build a rhythm that we lacked. They are not the MV we've been watching this season prior anymore. For mine with Tommy in the squad, their balance is far far better, and if they were a little stronger defensively, they would be my tip to pinch the toilet seat.

Let's hope Mossy can gel the new players. Eddy looks fantastic and we desperately need a #10 so Kim has surely got to come in. But for mine, it's madness having Duke on the bench. Matty is always a handful, but Duke is always dangerous. Which surely out trumps, and especially when we are looking under done in the front third. I really hope Mossy changes this. It's the only real sore point that's developing for me with him as our coach.

That doesn't explain why we played so well the two games he was out.

Agree with the general comments about the back play, my problem with it is it's so slow. By the time we get it moving forward again, all the avenues are covered. I compare with the way Roar & WSW for example (and MV too I have to say); they had the ball going across the park & back again quickly enough to start pulling the opposition out of shape, causing gaps which they then used at speed. Our passes going forward were also slow, giving the defenders (even the ones up in their front third) time to read it & cut it off. Don't know what the answer is, except we've got to do it, whatever it is, a bloody site quicker.

Must admit I thought there were more than that too.

The abysmal queues for food and drink were even worse than usual which would seem to suggest a larger crowd.

Soccer is fine by me; it's a nickname but when people use it they're at least referring to the correct thing. It's not like they're pointing to a cricket game and calling it soccer.

A penalty is a particular thing - a direct free kick, awarded inside the area and taken from a spot 11m from the goal line. There is nothing else that can be correctly called a penalty.

As someone who has played many sports since young and still play soccer to this day I would say the word penalty is imbeded in many peoples minds as a term for infringment or foul. No it is not the correct terminology my apologies to your sensibilities but to be honest I dont give a f**k.

Actually thought we played some of our best football this season but on reflection that was for probably 43minutes.

Looked sharp early - Bernie slams that home like he should of MV drop there heads & give up but he fluffs it & the rest is history.

As soon as the FREE KICK was given & saw Finkler line up I was worried but come on guys where was the effort. It was if he doesn't score Reddy will take care of it type stuff.

Momentum swung & the early goal in the 2nd half really pushed them along. All of a sudden victory are clicking again.

After the penalty was denied & MV come down & score to make it 3-1 everyone gave up. The rest of the game was just played because they had to. We were terrible from this moment on. Come on guys try there was still 30 mins against a team who has given up 5 twice recently.

As for the 3rd goal yes Reddy should have covered the post but it was a great shot from Troisi but I will say it was Storm he burnt. Not sure why storm was on the left there think he may have been covering but his body position left the whole probably because he is used to covering the other side of the field.

The Subs -
Berni hasn't played 90m for a long time & when you are down by 2 you gamble - So you have to take either Fitzy or Berni off. If Berni was match fit he stays on because he played better than Fitzy but you can't risk injury for playing Berni to long when not fully match fit to chase a game that is not as important as others might be. So right call for me.

Same for Bosnar the sieve was our only option & Eddie was knacked so can't risk injury.

While fans want an attacking change with all our changes recently we still don't 90m under all key players legs.

Unfortunately Sterj & fitzy both had bad games on the same day. Sterj may have even tried to hard after the announcement.

The backs leaked a couple of soft goals but will need another couple of games to gel.

I'm more disappointed by the effort after half time but otherwise we looked better than some of the dribble we played earlier in the year.

Our season hangs in the hands of our new Korean. Without someone to work the middle & set up our attacking players with shots on goal we are stuffed.

It comes down to this - if you say to someone that a penalty ought to have been given, they'll think you mean a kick from a spot 11 metres from goal.

You then need to explain what you actually meant was a free kick.

Learn and use the correct name and everyone will know what you mean.
