ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Well something f**ked went on and I was pulling stats from the game against Newcastle weeks ago.

I'm a dumb shit then. Apologies to Wombles.

Will be interesting to see Paul Okon's next line-up whether he persists with Rose at centre back. It will be a difficult one for him, he seems to like him there considering he played him there with the Young Socceroos.

He's played there a couple of times; I can see why Okon likes it - we look better with the ball with Rose there. I think Rose and Ascroft would be an excellent and attack-minded pair in there.

Our CB pairing was not really our issue. (Excepting at set pieces where we could easily have conceded three or four). Like Rose to move the ball quicker or otherwise if he has no options don't fling your arms in the air, take it forward and force someone to come to you or just keep going like Dutchy did a thousand times and as did Trent and even Wilko pretty consistently - but beyond Storm weemac mismatch, we lost the battle upfront and in the middle - when you look at Wellys dominance in the tackle and aeriallly yet we had the greater possession but nowhere near as much penetration - it really does tell the story.

Call me old fashioned but I'd like to see a couple of defensive minded centre backs.

The Wellington game from round 7 is being replayed this week so the fixtures automatically brings up that round.

I was surprised to see Liam as RCB and McGing LCB, while McGing has played there all year Liam is left footed.

Liam is to slow and short. Was almost a 3 at the back at times.

As for attack was watching the SFC game the other day and they mentioned that Wilkinson had come to Arnie and asked him for some extra cover, he said Powell is getting into the pocket and I need some help to cover him.
Arnie immediately told Brillante to cover everything Powell does.
This was picked up by the sideline eye.

It shows Powell mightn't be getting the ball but is getting into good positions and you don't need to get the ball to affect the offence.

I don't feel Fab offers this and was evident against nix.

Fab was picking the ball up deep to start counter attacks. Think this contributed to our attacking problems.

After New Year and SFC can see why Paul tried it though
