ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

More than anything I`d like to see us leapfrog the Nix & put some distance between us & Adelaide.
All games are crucial but this one could be out turning point for the season.
We`ve been playing reasonably well but still have those brain-fart moments that put us under pressure or concede goals.
I just hope the boys can put it together this week.

And just like that, Adelaide are above us on differential.

MUST win game now. We don't deserve to be last place.

FFS City, really now???

Shoot, this game is now really, really important. It's winnable, and we've been doing well, but the games where we've completely crumbled worry me. Won't get to watch this one unfortunately.

We've deserved a win lately.

Smeltz is not the player he was. He can't seem to make a yard on defenders anymore. Just mark tight, don't stand off him - or anyone for that matter - and I think he's one of the easist strikers in the HAL to contain now. But sure, leave him unmarked in the box and he'll score.

He was very good against Perth and fed Krishna beautifully. But without someone like Krishna beside him I don't think he will cause too much trouble.

Worried about a let down after two huge home games against the big boys.

The attitude of they are there for taking is good but don't get cocky. We haven't beaten them this season . 0 from 4. So they have us covered this season.

I'd be more worried about Hamish Watson than Smeltz

My biggest worry is Barborauses, then Finkler, bolevancia and weemac.

So basically their whole attack. And they have some good defenders too.

Merrick was right, Nix have massively under achieved this season given their squad.

Is Jake McGing the A-League's best centre back? (He really ain't):

Interesting article. McGing (and Ascroft) are both improving, but remain far away from being reliable, competent CB's. I suspect that if the measures in the article included the number of times each CB had failed to mark an attacker and consequently goals had been scored, McGing's rating would be assessed more accurately.

Others on this forum have noted that both Jake and Harry were defensive midfielders and have been thrust into the CB role. Both would probably have been better to remain in the midfield . In recent games I've noted Ascroft drive forward with the ball at his feet, getting quite high up the field on some occasions before releasing to support. Personally I'd love to see him in the midfield to see what he can do.

Good point that both boys were originally midfielders who were played at CB. I was thinking a couple of weeks ago, while we talk about playing with the mariners as being great for youth to get game time they would not get at other clubs, I wonder if both these boys have inadvertently had their careers ended because they have been playing out of position for a couple of years?? I don't think anyone but us would give them a go once their contracts are out. Its easy for us to comment on them being solid CBs at best, but I wonder what they may have been able to do if Wamsley had actually recruited a decent centre back pairing and let these boys develop in the midfield?
