ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

The football club only shares an owner with the COE and it is not guaranteed that any profits it makes will flow through to CCM. He is well within his rights to picket it, he has no obligation.

Ditto the stadium you would expect. CCM will merely be a tennant I fear given previous structures

I agree, he needs to keep the club alive to make it all work but with no relegation, he is under no pressure to make us successful.

That's 101 business. Why would you tie it together. If the owner is making money off of the name and property then he's not losing anything on the club and can afford to spend more without looking for investors. If the club goes pear shaped in the process he loses a sporting licence but has the property. He's hedging his bets. It's the reason he's a successful businessman.

Leaving the Coast up shit creek which was kind of my point.

The best outcome if he can do his next property deal is to allow some sort of community ownership to ensure the whole point of a football club doesn't get lost in the commercial noise

This is a question that needs to be raised at the upcoming forum. Shaun has referred to the arrangement as similar to a Leagues Club and their associated teams. I would like to know exactly how we are structured and how the football club aims and the 'property portfolio' aims align together.

You have to admit though he's doing everything to not let that happen. Everything other than blowing money on one successful season. Even if he did invest in players more than likely we'd lose them to cashed up cock suckers the next.

He needs a football club to make the whole thing work and I'm ok with us losing players to cashed up cocksuckers provided they pay through the nose for it (and include a sell on clause) :)

I was thinking more of those based here rather than abroad. But yes i agree with your point and would love for that to continue long into the future.
Next thing is, would someone you bring in with "cash" be the person you wanted to sell on. I'd say no and I'm thinking broich, berisha, khalfallah. Experience and skill. If your investing for return then a younger untried player, such as musti, ryan, rogic, that doesn't break the bank but shines, is your best investment and by investment we're talking time not cash. Do they necessarily cost the cash we are talking about splashing around?
There in lies the problem. Can we make the experienced cash signing stay when he finds out he's a star and can get paid more at say SFC. Dutchy has been the only cash player that has spent a fair amount of time here (correct me if I'm lying to support my argument)
So for mine, I'd much rather we concentrate on the why's they will want to stay here (granted one of those is a winning team) and have the best set up possible before going extravagant on rosters. I truly enjoy being the little team for the time being. Even when we win with a good roster and game we've still been the little team so spending won't change that. These plans and ideas may just put in place the structure to turn the little team into the giant. A bit of pain for a stable and exciting future. I'm ok with that. I think the pain we hear is that others may not be as patient as i an right now. (Who am i kidding, i love football. That patience disappears after a loss like last week and probably will again for 90 at the end of the week)
