ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

There is no way Mickey Neill can start at left back tonight, if he does there is no one else to blame for the hiding we will take other than Okon. Ashcroft to right back with Galloway back across to the left.

The other issue is we keep blaming the losses on individual errors, big issue is the style of play is causing these errors. We are turning the ball over in the back third of the pitch far too often and getting punished because we put ourselves under pressure by trying so hard to maintain possession. All teams make mistakes just no where near as many as we do at the back as their coach and players are smart enough to realise giving 2 - 3 goals a game away is not going to deliver results.

We need to defend first and play possession when appropriate. The players need to make decisions based on what is happening on the field not a mad philosophy to keep possession at any cost.
Kamau will kill Neill
It's not the system. The system is not responsible for lazy passes or mucking around like Rose did. Seriously under 10's don't make those mistakes. We have been making these school girl mistakes for two years now in any system.
Movement is a bigger problem

Completely agree the lack of movement is an issue but that is where the system puts us under pressure and the mistakes come. Instead of conceding possession up the park by getting rid of the ball we concede out in the back line or just in front by either getting caught with the ball or with a very loose pass after being put under pressure by a team mate playing backwards into a pressure situation.

As you said the mistakes have been going on for the 2 years we have tried to play like this as we don't have the players for the system. Therefore we need to adjust the system to minimise the mistakes.

I don't know why anyone expected the squad list to change with a 3 day turnaround
Tav was listed as unavailable for 1 week in the Roar team sheet Round 11.
Tav was listed as unavailable for 1 week in the MV team sheet, as was Storm, Round 12.
Not entirely implausible to think that they were rested from the MV game with a view to playing the NYE game at home.

You can bring in a player at anytime. The squad lists are a joke and every week there are players who aren't on the list either starting or on the bench.

This plus they name the whole squad every game. I don't know why they bother with them.

I'm looking forward to tonight. Already had 4 cleansers. I've also wormed my way into a catered box. The only downer is our 3 day turn around. I wish we could have had a proper preparation because I think we could beat the plastic fantastics.

Sooooo on a separate but related note.
I have visitors coming from overseas, who insist on doing what we normally do on NYE - which is nice nice but...
As the incapable don't that i can be, i failed to consider that i only have two extra tickets and that obviously they're GA not gold.
So i looked at the price on the website and HOLY MACKEREL!
Does anyone know if there's still a members discount on the tickets? And if so, how it gets applied?

Worth trying Dan at the little membership marquee just near the crossing out front. He looked after me with a similar issue - but I'd had a chance to call a couple of days before.

Mmmm, I agree on Neil but we actually coped fine with pressure last game - that's not when we turned it over. Two goals came when we simply passed the ball to them when there was no real pressure and or made a terrible touch. And two more from beyond poor marking and a failure to stay goal side of your man.

I know possession football invites pressure - so that the logical conclusion, but these were no pressure sloppy midfield turn overs, and ironically playing out is the one area I think we can be happy in how well they are generally progressing.
