ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

I value the League more than the GF, as do people like Harry Kewell, Simon Hill and those Cove members who got '14-02-10 FTT' tattoed on their arms. It seems generally the people who go on about GF's being most important are Jest fans. But that makes a lot of sense...

Would love to win the double with ease this year!

The Roar were missing Broich, Henrique and Smith and it was still a fairly close game. What would happen if the Mariners lost eg: Amini, Ibini and Wilkinson for example at the same time? The team surely would be vulnerable with those losses...

Sounds like Round 1 this year. Brisbane looked very good in that game and it was ony a Patrick mistake late in the game that gave them the win. We had a number of chances to score and win that game too - but didn't. This game we took a couple of the chances and won.

On a side note, it isn't just that CCM are now first - we've caught up to the Meow's goal difference too, only one goal behind them, 7 ahead of next highest GD (Heart, on 3)

We would lose 1-0 with Dutchie making an uncharacteristic error and Baird having a header cleared off the line...

I think winning a match with a tense ending like that will be good for the Mariners. If they find themselves in another nail-biter with the Roar, they know they can go on and win it.

WE ARE TOP OF THE LEAGUE!!!

WTF

I would love to win the toilet seat just to shut the haters up, and to watch the Scummers' heads explode when they realise they have nothing but 2008 to fall back on (it's already close enough).

Not even a close GF, I'd love to see us boss the opposition 3 or 4-0 with a clinical display all match like our first half last night. Imagine going into the final 10 minutes of the GF knowing it was all but impossible for the other team to win? Knowing that at that very moment, in trailer parks all across the Hunter, Squadrunts were reacting like this:

I think that lot would be reacting most like the Bitters fans, realising that yet again, their neighbours are consistantly better ;) GVE would be Fergie and Sackwhack could easily be Rat Boy.

......But I'd still much rather win the double as the ultimate F**k you!

That was funny. Thanks for posting.

Winning the league is a far better indicator of who the best team is - but nobody in Australia cares about the league winners, only the grand final winner.

So that's where the glory is - so I'd rather win the grand final.

But there's also the pain of all those grand final losses as well.
This is the way it is in Australia - our team sports have had finals from the year dot and the supreme team is the one which wins the Grand Final. Even football (the real football that is) followers seem to be the same in this regard - note the 40K+ crowd last year at Suncorp.
Because I have grown up with a finals culture, for me winning the league is secondary ("the minor premiership"), it's a nice thing but the job's not done, winning the Grand Final is the pinnacle.

Heart pills ... whiskey in a jar ...that second half was hard to take... but we won...

I was at the game and I didn't feel that tense, the only time I thought "oh not again" was when they had those corners deep in Injury time. Even when we went a goal down I thought we had their measure defensively.

I haven't had a chance to watch the replay, but I'll sit down tonight and watch to catch what I may have missed.

Just like Australian football doesn't have the resources to be in the World Cup Grand Final....

With enough belief and spirit, anything is possible IMO. Not saying it's likely though :)

The win itself is what is significant; I really don't think that Arnie and Wilko will be too disappointed by the second half when they have time to consider the result. Brisbane set the standard last season and only the Mariners were game to consistently challenge them but no matter that we lead in three of the games against them we still didn't get the win. That's why this is different - can you imagine how confident we would feel if they had again snatched a draw? Beating Brisbane marks a turning point in many ways.

Exactly. And to win against the same team as in the GF, at the same ground, defending the same goal, at the same point in the match- you couldn't ask for a better exorcism of the demons.
