Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

You know the captain will always get a run especially Rd 1. So forget the Hutch vs. Monty for a spot in the 11.

A wanderer - some one who wanders from the SFS to Parramatta & back to the SFS for the GF - Rip's his old seat out of the ground so he can take it with him for his next adventure.

Rumor has it - A bloke was seen in the neutral zone (Hornsby - SFC WSW CCM all supported here) with a jacket with RBB on the back riding a .....

Wait for it ...

a Vesper. Oh when my mate told me that I cracked up. How very bling FC in a Western Sydney sort of way.

Apologies for offending said fan but I thought this very funny

3 parts -

Part 1 - answer Q's re-starting 11 - Captain won't be missing from Rd 1 game so Hutch in no Q's asked IMO

Part 2 - piss take / Very bad joke about nomad our WSW mate - His signature is about what a wanderer is

Part 3 - A sighting of a WSW fan which I thought was hilarious & very un-WSW

Big call that. Personally have been very disappointed with monty in pre-season. Has looked rusty, turned the ball over at nearly every opportunity.

Will be interesting to see if Arnie starts Sterj or Simmo.

I agree with this. Monty has looked sub par and Anthony has been superb I reckon, but knowing what Monty is like when he is in form he'd get the tip of my hat for this one.
And from pre-season form I'd pick Simon over Sterjovski.

How the hell was this allowed to happen?

Arnie asks why La Rocca playing

GRAHAM Arnold has bemoaned the ‘strange rule’ that’s allowed Western Sydney Wanderers defender Iacopo La Rocca to play in the opening round of the new A-League season.

La Rocca was sent off against Sydney FC in Round 26 and received a four match ban, which ruled him out of last season’s grand final against Central Coast Mariners. He carried one game over to the new season, but was allowed to complete his suspension during a preseason friendly and as a result is now eligible to play against the Mariners on Saturday.

Arnold says that wouldn’t happen in other football leagues around the world.

“You get sent off in a competition game and you can serve your suspension playing friendly games,” Arnold said.

“Maybe if Western Sydney were more proactive after he got sent off last year against Sydney FC they would have organised two friendly games in the two-week period before the grand final and he would’ve been able to play in the grand final.

“Luis Suarez got 10 weeks at Liverpool in the English Premier League at the end of last year and he didn’t serve his suspension in friendly games, he served his suspension during games that counted for three points. It’s a strange rule.”

I wouldn't say that there's a conspiracy e.g. favouring WSW over the rest. More like a stupid rule (that's the same for everybody) that needs to be fixed.

Looking forward to the opening round to season nine, what an opener for us! The Grand Final replay.

If I am being honest, I am surprised we are favourites albeit we are at home and had a fantastic home record last season. We have lost some key figures as we all know on this forum (Ryan's loss will be huge as will Zwaanswijk's departure) and I believe it will take us some time to find out feet as a squad. McBreen being on loan hurts as well though I am excited to see what Duke can do this season after a breakout season in 2012/13.

It seems to be said every season though this one should be the biggest and best for the A-League. The interest in the A-League in my social circles has grown to the point it's now a discussion point on par with the NRL, AFL, NFL and the other sports we follow (where once it was this football fan being shot down for bringing it up!).

Enjoy the game all, the atmosphere will be electric and a season highlight for mine.
