Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Is it just me??? or did I have a few too many bevvies watching the youth game and not see properly.... BUT, from where I was sitting I can't remember Breeze actually calling a goal.... when one was scored, he just sorta stood there, watched the celabration, then moazzied on back to centre circle....  :naughty:

I thought the ref was meant to blow the whistle and call a goal??? or have the rules changed that I'm not aware of???

There's no rule either way.  Actually,  the whistle isn't mentioned anywhere in the laws of the game ;-)

On the central coast it is pretty typical that the referee signals the goal by blowing the whistle and pointing to the centre.  In England (and I think even in parts of Australia) it isn't really done (unless it's a situation where the ball's quickly gone in and out of the goal).  It really isn't something that makes a difference to the game.  I haven't even noticed which way HAL referees normally go, or even what the others did this weekend.

I watched the game on TV, our yellows were all deserved and there weren't any dangerous tackles by Qld that were missed.  He actually had a really good game, bit more lenient than I'd like on the shirt pulling, and he didn't come back to address late tackles when he played advantage, but aside from that I couldn't fault him.  If anything, we probably got the benefit of the doubt more than Qld.

Our back line on the other hand - utterly useless.  We should've played with 7 and sent our back line to the pub - at least then we wouldn't have expected the ball to be stopped between midfield and Danny.

One of the goals (the one where it was basically headed as Danny tried to punch it) should've been stopped, I think Danny fell asleep and relaxed way too much there.  Having said that, it's the responsibility of the lazy SOB marking that player (was it Wilko? ) to put himself between the attacker and the keeper and make sure he can't just run up and challenge the keeper like that.

Qld destroyed us in fitness - last 20min or so we were exhausted and it showed, particularly up front when a lot of good plays were started, only to pass it straight to Qld.

First half I thought we were definitely the better team.

I agree about Danny - I thought he could've stopped the cross on the first goal (though it's completely Heff's fault that it got to that stage).  Unfortunately, when he had the best chances to make a quick distribution to open strikers he got too excited and gave it straight to Roar too.

Is it my imagination, or is poor marking a problem that continues to plague us?

Can't believe we lost on a ploody own goal :-(

please guys dont take this to heart but the mariners were like bay 16 tonight they lacked direction and fired up for a couple minutes after the goals and then went to sleep again. Im no leader i sit in bay 17 and i love joining in with the songs but when you guys dont sing it is quiet. I know the cove is alot bigger but they sing even when they play like s##t which is often these days. a dissapointing performance all round but hopefully we can all fire up and make the finals. sorry if i have offend anybody but thats how i feel and we all have our own opinions .

I don't think they were much different than in other games..... our back line has always been poor.... and we surely miss Jedi, the reason we looked bad last night  is because Roar are very good and fast to counter attack...  otherwise a typical game and quite good in parts.

I'm a coastie and Minnecon f**ked us over... No one else! He was all class and our 2nd and 3rd goals were lucky. We weren't even in the game. Lets get over it and move on.

There is much work to be done!

bay 16 is shit because there are ppl "who have been there scince day one" and all start their own random chants..which are from V1 and are rubbish....then there are ppl activly trying to introduce new chants and such who are ignored..the reason melb and syd and even newcastle's support works so well is because they listen to their capo and are actually there to sing their hearts out not socialise....(app for spelling and punc dibo)

Agree
I always chant, even clap, bop & dance when only the drum is being beaten and nobody is actually singing. I didn't pay $200 to just go & socialise, I'm there to support my team & it really annoys me that people think it is "cool" to sit in the bay but not do actually do anything but sit there when we are trying to make an atmosphere

Even when I don't know the words to a new chant. I still clap along, listen & start singing when I have figured out the lyrics.

I was just having a go at Gus, coz he's always on the Ref's side. While I don't believe Breeze was entirely fair, it definately was not his fault we lost.

I don't normally comment on the game - but here goes.

It comes down to one thing.  Jedinak.  We don't have him anymore and we haven't adjusted.  But we better do it soon otherwise we might not make the 4 if the nix have some luck.  FFS Sydney could sneak ahead of us (probably not tbh but stranger things have happened).

I've got to ask if Heffernan had the flu (and probably wasn't 100%) why was he playing?  He had nothing while back, and didn't have the spark when going up front he has had recently.

Porter disappeared in the 2nd half.  Not his fault as others have mentioned, you play one position all season and then switch.  It just ain't goin' to happen.  Besides I don't think he has the presence.  Award for funniest play of the season though (holding the ball on the ground - as a mate said '1st time he's seen someone play the ball with all 3 legs').

Midfield.  Will someone teach Hutch to go forward.  Adrian didn't seem to be there.  We missed Osman in the 2nd half.

Gumprecht - should have come on earlier.  But as much as I'm a fan he needs to go.  He won't be around for ever, and even I'm getting sick and tired of the calls to bring him on as soon as things don't go right.  He's an impact player, who won't have that impact for too much longer.  Best to let him go and learn to be without him.

Up front ... can't complain.  There were probably half dozen chances gone begging.  Nik still has some work to do, he was involved in a couple of 'misunderstandings' that stuffed promising attacks up.  Matty's goals were well taken (nice pieces of opportunity) - how long will he still be with us?  Would have liked Sash to come on earlier.  Dylan was great.  Absolutely stunned to see him in the defense.  Could he move into Jedi's position? (I honestly don't know how feasible that is - I'd be interested in people's opinions).

Danny - did little wrong.  Qld 2nd goal probably his fault, but where was his defense?

The midfield has to be fixed.  Time to pick up some new players for the ACL, organise some trial games (even against the scum, God knows they've got fark all to do now), and get ready to take Asia by storm.

And please someone teach Adrian to shoot with his right foot.

A captian of a team should be solid, have heart, passion, play for 90 minutes and not disappear for half the game, fire the team up, cover for others in the team, always give 100%, have a workrate 2nd to none, and basically not be rubbish week in week out

ccmfc captain should be...

Something needs to change. Wilko is poo. Hutch is a slightly better kind of poo. Id give the armband to nobody else in the squad at the moment other than Dyl

I was impressed with the way most of the stadium (especially on the Western??? side) joined in with the Mariners *clap clap clap* chant throughout the night when it was sung...
