ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Liverpool's 'You'll never walk alone' is the pinnacle of pre-game songs, and as much as I would like for something like that to happen at BT, I don't think it will happen any time soon.
I think it's something that needs to happen organically within our active supporter section and eventually into the stands.

..but don't let me pop the bubble! I love the idea.

In my opinion, the best team songs are the ones that come organically. It needs to be something that happens naturally and people embrace because they want to...not because they're being told "This is the team song". The club is still a baby in the wide world of football, I'm sure as the club grows we'll continue to write our own history and in that will be included club songs, etc.

instead of tro-phy, we could just have "coast".

and the chorus

"We're Yellow and we're Blue,
Living by the sea
We're Mariners"

Heard the "organic" ideal a lot over the years on these boards. Bucking the trend on this one.

If the net result is zero after 8 seasons, there is nothing to suggest it might well not be the same situation after 16 and 24 years. "Nothing can come of nothing" as it goes.

And why are ideas generated off a clubs forum by some of it's most passionate fans inorganic?
Does Peter Prior have to go to the desert for 40 days?
Kwassie sit under a Bohdi tree?
Hutch have to wake up after a GF bender with the lyrics tattooed on his ass?

And what's to be scared of? If something sucks it simply won't take off. That's one down, and a step in the right direction.
If we're talking big picture and long term footballing culture, no one will be looking back on the club song of the last hundred years saying:
"yes... but it was never really that organic was it?"

Club should take a leaf out of WSW book imo. Get a range of songs, take a vote, and see whether it takes off. Only TIME and "TESTING" will decide if anything will ever be the right fit. And throwing ideas forward, making mistakes and seeing what sticks, is about as organic as creation gets. What matters is whether it is "beloved". And again, that will only be decided in the trying.

Peace, love and song creation,
