Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

McBreen? Sterjovski? Fitzgerald? Simon?
As all these players leave we are bound to bring players in. Mat Simon is a great addition. The leadership of Lucas Neil to replace the leadership of Patrick would be excellent. There will be others.
if anything sterjovski would retire, he's allready achieved in his career what most a-league players could only dream of, he played in the 2006 world cup, had about 50 or 60 caps 4 the socceroos, played alongside some of australias best players, (king) harry kewell, viduka, cahill, kenneddy, neill,t.vidmar, schwartzer, emmerton & aloisi

With all those players leaving Matt Thompson would be an ideal signing.
He is the most versatile player in the A League, rarely misses a game, is supremely fit & fits the no dickhead policy.
Thommo also holds the record for the most A League games & has 4 Aussie caps.
At 30 yrs old he would be an asett to the Mariners

There you go again! Making sense! ;)
People will find you out before too long!
He can play CB, DM and FB and for all I know Goalkeeper too.
If Ollie goes we need an experienced player to back up Monty and Hutch; Caceres can play there but may be used more as AM next season so Thomson would fit.
Mind you, does being a former scummer meet with the no dickhead policy? (Lawrie did try to sign him but he went to Heart for a lorra moolah...)
Oooh, I love speculation

Thompson would have been on good money at heart. More money that it would be worth spending on a utility. Even with an extra man on the bench.

If he came at 1/3 of his previous price might be worth a look, if we lose 2-5 more players IMO

He can also play AM, forward, Left side & right side.
It didn`t seem to matter that Petrovski played for Newcastle & I rate Thommo way higher than him.
I`ve known him since he was about 10. I`ve coached his brother ( Sydney United) & I`ve known his parents for 20 yrs.
He comes from very good stock, (his father played at St George in their glory days).
Even when he made Matty look stupid he never enterred the dickhead arena.

Young Bragg is head and shoulders above his peers in the NSWPL.

Admittedly a very poor Academy side but he is outstanding. His passing is a joy. Very quick feet too.

Won't be out of place in the A League next season IMHO even if off the bench

I rate Thompson. He made a mistake, it's true, but he also had the good sense to put Newcastle behind him and move on. Was also one of hearts best last year, and was surprised he did not get a contract.

Drove my sister to the airport this morning and saw Birnie . Started talking to him and he told me he was off to china for a medical and that he'll be back in 2 weeks to pick up his stuff and head back to china again. Great kid. Good luck to him.

Bragg? Hmmmmm ...............I don't know how much you've seen him play, TBH, I don't see him as HAL material. Saw plenty of him in the NYL ( never a standout ) and PL . Could be better than his CCA ( last in the ladder) peers as there isn't much to pick from. IMHO, I reckon there are a lot of players better than Bragg in the NSWPL.

Maybe at CB (where until/unless we hear confirmation otherwise we have Sainsbury and if not I'd be happier to see us nab Wilko or Neill), maybe RB (where I'd be happier to see us play Morton and get him developing), but his best spot (DM) is all locked up.
