Trent Sainsbury has officially left the Mariners. #ThanksTrent.
He'll be missed, but cannot stand in the way of a young man who wants to take on a new challenge.

this has got to be one of the most intense "transition years" in a-league history!

it might seem that we came close to keeping him but the mariners have apparently been fielding a number of offers, it was a mater of which one... this one being Trents first choice and a place where he is likely to develop. asian teams offered more money FWIW, a very level headed decision

Aussie back two WSW Spira & exCCM Trent Sainsbury IMO - Now that Rhys Williams has broken down & Lucas will be the tour manager (even though they will give him a playing kit).

Well, sad to see young Trent go but like everyone else i wish him all the best. Will go all the way i think, one of our best ever to wear the Mariners jersey. Lucky for him as well that the Socceroos haven't got a load of options at CB. Agree with Big Al in that Trent and Spira for the WC. Only issue will be whether or nor he gets enough game time between now and then. Doubt (but hope) he will walk straight into his new side. If we do get Bosnar that isn't a bad replacement but will take a little while for him to fit in. Interesting times and more to come.
