ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

He ain't no Ryan in the ball distribution department

Not sure about that - after warmups he belts the ball from hands into the bag 40m away with impressive consistency; given a lengthy run in the firsts I'm sure he'd do well.

I think it's under the high ball that he's a little way behind Matty, but still he's pretty good there too.

Good point. He ain't no Ryan in the ball distribution department, but I thought Justin did quite a good job when called upon. I'd like to see him get a fair go.

Absolutely. Mind you, I thought he was a bit shakey and let in one or two easy goals when he filled in the season before, but yeah pretty impressive last season. Gonna be really surprised if Reddy gets a game at all to be honest (injury forbidding)

I'e seen his warm ups too. Big difference from moving the ball out during real match conditions. Ryan nearly always played the pass or throw rather than the big 50/50 hoof up the field. Jason was more comfortable with the latter from what I could tell.

It is exactly what I wanted, a non issue put to bed by the people that are in a better position to make the judgement than us on here.

Fixed for you. ;)

I'm not really interested in starting banter over this. Ironically, the point of my post was to possibly help move things along. But fans are going to voice their opinion and will decide for themselves what is a non issue. And lets be fair, even if you don't share the majority of opinions on here, a zero tolerance policy built into a players contract is not a very strong argument for a "non issue".

There's definitely no "best position" to debate as far as I'm concerned. We don't make any decisions. And surely everyone expects they are better informed. But the fact remains, there's a lot of baggage with this signing. Liam's past behaviour and actions makes him a signing that "barely any" HAL fans would relish. And they have good reasons - especially in the case of our fans.

But as I've said before, I believe in second chances and I like players with points to prove. And it was never Reddy's ability as a keeper that I have had issue with.
So if the club/coaches think he is the best option skill wise, that he won't upset the dressing room, is intent on mending his ways, and that they can manage to keep his head on his shoulders... then I'll go along for the ride. It's yet one more thing that makes this season interesting as supporter for me. My support will never be conditional.

Best
FP

I'm happy enough to back him if Arnie and Crawley are. He will be one of the best No.2s in the competition compensating for the fact our No.1 isn't quite as good as the former No.1. (Notwithstanding Justin may be wearing No.22 or something...)

Club said, in response to a commenter being offended Reddy had a 1 on his training kit, that Justin will have #1 and that both will be fighting for the starting job.

Arnie did make comment (can't remember where - might have been fox sports news) that had Reddy not had that incident at SFC that he reckons he'd still be the No. 1 @ SFC.

You'd have to think he is more than a chance to be our No.1

. and i thought the reason for that incident was that he had been dropped to the bench and was drowning his sorrows ... ie. having a very unprofessional sook

Pasfield didn't do him self any favours last night against CCMA... Everyone is rooting for him but at the end of the day he is gunna need to step up quite a bit. For the record I think he will do well with a few games to settle him in, but the first few games of the season may be a little bumpy
