ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

player appreciation......

dru, yes i have have travelled to several away trips
but im also losing money for when i want to see the boys play at home and im not loosing one days pay im  losing 2 per game.
i have already arranged time off for the home legs of the ACL and i will be losing 6 days worth of pay to go to bluetongue and acctually  support the boys

i attend every  home game
and i support the boys and team 110%
i may not go to every away match but im still supporting the boys wherever i am and not giving them half the grief that goes on this forum!

To them it's just a job and we are just an audience but to a lot of us supporting this club is something that defines a part of us. I have spent the last week defending "the players" effort in the 2-0 loss at home, I will spend the next few weeks defending them after this result. The players may need to realise that for some of us we don't just turn up for 90 minutes each week it is a lot more than that.

ok here is why I'm jack of the attitude towards us

Wellington last season 2-1 win not one player walked towards the 10 or so away supporters to acknowledge us.
Perth last season 1-0 win not one player made an effort to acknowledge me on the terraces after they won
Perth this season 2 all draw 3 players made their way over to the away fans to clap them, One of which was Jedi who had family in the area.

Compare this to the fact that Jamie Harnwell issued an apology after the TOD to bluetongue for not acknowledging the traveling support, it shows that some players actually appreciate it and understand the issue.

Good on you for taking time off to watch the home games, I'll be driving 270km round trip to watch home games after having worked at least a 10hr day. I'll then be backing up for work the next day.

I will have also been on 10hr flights to get to both Tianjin and Kawasaki games and my reaction if the players don't believe we have made an effort to get there and don't need to be acknowledged will be the same as it is now.

The fact is members of the club have come out and said that the fans deserve better than what has happened in the past GF's then they don't even acknowledge those that still have enough faith to travel away. seems like hot air really.

we will be here long after the players and coaches leave the club.

p.s please explain to me how expressing your opinion on the performances of certain people at the club can be seen as getting 'tough behind the keyboard'??

If every person was as you say go to training and raise their problems, not much training would get done would it?

Ah yes, work.

Thats the job the players have isnt it? If I put in a shit performance, my customers are very quick to tell me about it (and rightly so).

In your world, footballers are above this are they? Why?

Well, if any of them are reading this, your commitment and effort over the past few weeks has been pathetic and your customers (you know, the people who pay your wages) dont like it.

Where they are lucky is that their customers will keep coming back for more (well I will anyway).

And Kev, if you didnt sense the mood on Friday, you must have had ear plugs in  :). Talk to some of the people at Brisbane, listen to the crowd leaving the ground sometime. Talk to the groups of smokers outside the ground on match days.Go into a lot of CC workplaces. You might find that the "sample" of unhappy customers is a bit bigger then you might think.

I think a few people need to take off the skirts (sorry ladies) and get real. If players come on here and read our constructive criticism yet take personal offense, then to me they are not professionals. The negativity shown to the club is nothing compared to some overseas leagues I can assure you. We do not boo our players or sing derogatory chants about our players or manager.

Just take Chelsea lately (even though i am a fan), we had a manager who has won the world cup yet a slip in form dropped us to 4th in the EPL. 4th is still bloody good yet our fans still bagged the manager. They demand perfection and there is really no reason why we shouldn't demand similar with our club, that is, if we want to win things.

So take off the rose tinted glasses and see that true and loyal fans can still criticize their team, because at the end of the day, we will be here farrrrr longer than any coach/manager/player and our opinion should count the most.

You miss-read what I was saying, or put words in my mouth ... either way .... there are very, very few on here who talk crap that is quite unfair to the players (and that they should be upset about).

I am unhappy, and I am sure a lot more are, but that is fair criticism that the players, staff, and board should cop as part of their lot.

Unfortunately not enough people are expressing fair criticism yet to put the minority crap into true perspective.
